May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

You were one of the people that I knew had good luck with them. ;) I know quite a few people have good luck with them. I wonder if they just had a batch or 2 during production that weren't quite right and ended up being lemons and I got one of those.
I’m laughing because sounds like my life

11 Gold Appenzellers went into lockdown on day 17 yesterday....must have some internal pips today as there was chirping when I opened the incubator to add the Delaware eggs which are on day 17 lockdown today. My incubator is looking a bit empty now that 16 eggs have been moved to the hatcher.....but June hatching eggs are on their way!

Mine is an old one with the the dial knob for temp so it is very hard to get it just right. I might retire it after this hatch or use it as a hatcher. I've had it for several years.

We're using an older version of this incubator as well. I will admit that the dial knob has been a bit touchy, but so far, so good! My biggest issue is getting the humidity up enough for lockdown, but that's not so much the incubator as it is the lack of humidity in my basement. 😖

I had that trouble with my last hatch in this one. It was my first time hatching in a few years so I was trying to get the humidity up to like 70% but then it ended up being to high and I had several drown in the shell. This time I plan on getting it up to 50% and letting the natural humidity from the chicks hatching take care of the rest.

Hey everyone I haven't had time to update because I've been so busy adding on to the run and building a new coop but my eggs hatched on Friday night/ Saturday. It was so cold Saturday I did't even really get to look at the chicks. Just got a quick glimpse of everyone and pulled shells out. Well Sunday it finally warmed back up and all the babies where out and running around. Here they are!!

Sorry for the photo dump they are just so cute I couldn't help myself. Each one is different, it's so interesting. 2 mille fleur and 2 porcelains hatched. Does anyone know if they display sex linked colors as chicks?
These are the two porcelains

My humidity is hovering right around 50% now, so maybe I'll give that a try, as well. All the wells are full, and I think I'm going to add a wet rag for a little extra moisture. :)

Its a terrible pic because none of these lil fluff balls wanted to cooperate but i have 10 healthy babies! I have 2 more in the incubator drying off with at least 5 more pips. Don't mind me I'm in my corner doing happy dances. So thankful I switched up the incubator top this hatch. I'll do a photo shoot later today to commemorate my most successful hatch ever.View attachment 2137909
