Hello! Well these little beauties are a whole week old now ! Heres some new pics. I'm still not sure how these guys will turn out as they are a mix between silkie/frizzle/polish haha !

Does anyone have any specific recommendations for leg bands? I want to keep some records on my little ones but I cant tell them all apart!

Staggered hatch went well... three chicks all under mummy broody...

If you only need them while they are small you can use colored zip ties

Look on amazon they have a bunch that work. Also TSC sells them too in the chicken feed section.

With zip ties be very careful you do not put them on too tight and that you take them off when there isn’t much room left between their leg and the zip tie.

What do I need to look for when trying to pick out the pullets from the cockerels? I know at least one of them seems to be quite a bit bigger than the others. We also have two that are quite a bit smaller We only seem to have hatched one of the little grey ones

I look at comb size and color, waddle size and color, the tail and saddle feathers, and neck feathers. Also agressiveness. A cockerels comb and waddles will usually be bigger and a fuller color than the pullets. Cockerels will also have curved pointy saddle feathers where a pullets will be straighter and rounded. A cockerels neck feathers will also be more pointed than a pullets and when they challenge other chicks they will stand them up on end.
