May 2023 Hatch-a-long

Pics
Of 41 eggs set 38 looked good to go earlier so I didn't candle tonight as they went into lock down. Just took the turner out and filled the best channel for a higher range of humidity and wished them well. Now the fidgets begin. I also run a vaporizer for extra humidity during this dry spell here. No rain for days now. I'm shooting for 70-75%. I don't like shrink wrapping. This is my 3rd hatch and I don't want to make mistakes made earlier.

Alright, so y'all know I set 35 eggs, but my incubator holds 40 (41 slots but i don't count the middle slot.)
Since 9 eggs were infertile and taken out (As you'll find out about in a minute. ) and since i have 5 extra slots. On day 2.5 of the original eggs, I filled the 5 remaining slots with eggs, because, why not?
Those 5 eggs came from a friend by surprise, she actually gave me 8, but ill talk about what i did to the remaining 3 in a minute. No idea what breeds she has, all I know is she has a huge white rooster, so I'm sure the chicks coming out of the eggs will be mixed.
The remaining 3 went into my old cheap incubator- (If you've been with me in my past incubations, I hate that incubator. So, why did I set eggs in it? Because i had a plan on sticking them in the new incubator on lockdown, as that's where it always goes wrong in the old one. )
But then, on day 4 of the original eggs, I removed 3 infertile eggs from the incubator, and stuck the 3 eggs that were in the old incubator in place of the ones i removed.
BUT THEN, I added 6 eggs to the old incubator still sticking to the plan.
BUT THEN AGAIN, today i removed 6 infertile eggs on day 7 of candling, and those 6 eggs in the old incubator, replaced those.
Those "new" 8 eggs, are pretty much on day 4, and are all developing despite being switched from one incubator to the other.
The "even newer" 6 eggs are on day 3 and are also developing nicely.
Thats 14 eggs in total.
Now info on the 26 remaining original eggs:

if you do the math, add 14 to the 26, you get 40, so thats 40 developing chicks in a full incubator, meaning if all make it to hatch that'll be one crowded incubator.

This is next level chicken math 😂

I did end up candling my incubator 1 eggs (as fast as humanly possible while putting them back exactly oriented the way they were) and all have movement! Just not ready to come out yet. Grrrr.

On incubator 2, I decided to candle to satisfy my impatience even though it's only day 9. Lots of strong movements!

And a very weird thing going on with Dinosaur/#5. Any ideas why it appears to have two eyes completely unattached to each other?? See video below.
Even though it is only day 9?!?!?!? What day do you normally candle???? Lol

Hmmm. Could be twins or I think an eye and "butt" can both look like dark dots at times.

Lol. Sounds like something I would do but I only have 1 incubator so I stacked 29 in my 22 egg incubator. Lol. Will check on day 3. May mark clears then and check again day 5 and remove any obvious clears. Then 5 will go under my broody on Wed anyways. Now I need to remember not to fill any open slots. Lol

Ah ok. I start on day 3...... Sometimes peek at a couple on day 2. Lol. Then I do my best to hold off for every other day or longer if I can. Lol
I know I’ve posted how I ‘usually’ candle 3 x or sometimes only once but sometimes a lot… we’ll those duck eggs thing I candled once on day 3 and then pretty much every day after day 7 lol. I was opening up the incubator to mist them so it only seemed right to candle as well 😂
