May 2023 Hatch-a-long

Pics
Final score on incubator 1:4 chicks hatched out of seven. For the three that did not hatch, I candled last night and saw no movement. First One must have died after lockdown, not sure why. Splash Silkie. Second One was malpositioned with feet over head and could not pip. Blue silkie. The third one was still alive when I started the egg topsy, but had not internally pipped because it was malpositioned as well. I did my best to assist but it did not make it. Black silkie.

Breaks my heart when they get that far along but don’t make it. Worst hatch I’ve had to date. Hopefully incubator 2 does better. They go into lockdown soon.

All had gone perfectly with temp and humidity... until today. Lockdown was yesterday morning. My only guess is condensation dripped on the thermometer that controls the heat?
I came downstairs and the incubator thermometer was reading 93* but my backup thermometer was reading 104*
I think it was a max of 1 hour.
I saw a couple eggs rocking before the incident but haven't seen anymore rocking since the incident
It took me a good 15 minutes to get the temp normalized, during that time I had to open and close the incubator several times.
Please tell me it's going to be fine!

Day 11 here...
Thinking I have 3 quitters...
Not sure as veins actually looked really good.
I will be done turning them as of tomorrow night.
Still trying to decide when and if to remove them from egg cartons. A lot of my air cells are saddled.

I'll recheck the 3 eggs some time on the next few days.

I have 8 currently in the incubator out of 16 shipped

Hopefully the temp didn't effect them. Keep them in the same position and as long as no external pips you can take them out and candle them to look for movement. I wouldn't worry about the opening and closing of the incubator at this point

I have only had mine in egg cartons once with shipped eggs. Other than that I just put them on the sides. I had a bunch last year with severely saddled air cells and they were all just fine.
