i tryed to mark my broodys eggs and she got off the nest for a day and a half but i did it in the day time should i mark them at night or will i break her

Night is always the best time to do anything with your birds. They're much calmer and half asleep. That's when I trim their nails etc.

Surrogate momma with her 6 babies. 1 light blue, 2 blue cream it lavender? 1 white, 1 blue Partridge, and 1 splash. Most have awesome vaulted skills. Only 2 do not.

I FINALLY have the brooder ready with the MHP in place. And evidently just in time too. We had one of the 18 eggs hatch last night, now just waiting on the rest.

That's super cute but oh dear good that's going to be messy. In a few wks time they will be kicking dust out from everywhere

lol, and that is when the brooder gets moved out to the run!

I'm on phase one of my meat breed I'm trying to create. In the bator is 6 shipped White Dorking, 6 shipped Dark Cornish, 9 Dark Cornish Brahma crosses, 3 Brahma, 3 Delaware Brahma cross and 6 White Rock Brahma cross. Have a few show quality Dark Cornish eggs coming in that will be going in a couple days late. I plan to keep any Dark Cornish pullets, Most of the mix pullets, Hoping at least 3 Dorking hatch as I will breed them separate if so as they aren't available local.

So I'm going to take after the girlscout troop hatch and take my bator to kindergarten on Monday, I'll be able to leave it there a few days. Hatch day is Tuesday so I'm hoping there is no more then a pip Monday morning. My plan right now is I'm going to leave then in the egg turner till Monday morning turning it off Saturday night but still in place. That way the eggs don't roll and break on the drive. Once we get to school I'll remove the turner and place the eggs. It's not a super great veiw for the kids but they will get to see a little action. The teacher is excited as she only does parent controlled hatch and the last one she was able to do was 5 years ago when myoldest was in her class.
