May hatch-a-long

so today is day nine and i candled my eggs under my broody hen and they are both fertile but one of the eggs air cell is really big bigger then it should be is this ok she has not gotten off the nest and her comb is not looking very good so she is inside know she has plucked her breast feathers has well is she not keeping the humidity right

It could be that was the first egg laid & it lost some moisture before she started setting or the bloom was compromised on it.
 
Well I thought I'd be moving them all to the brooder box this morning! Then one hatched just as I arrived. A second one hatched about an hour later. AND we have at least one more pipped! So I will wait as long as I can today at school before taking them out and bringing them on the quick trip home for the weekend.

This brings back memories. My dad was the only teacher in a one room school. And I remember many a trip keeping track of the hamster, fish, or other creature. It was usually vacations rather than weekends though.
