May Hatch-a-Long!

I thought I was finished hatching for the year, but I couldn't help myself....just set 22 bantam cochin eggs that were shipped. Both sets arrived this morning! 14 BBS (possible frizzles), 4 black, and 4 lemon blue

haha!!! I haven't even gotten started yet. I have 3 or 4 dozen eggs arriving next week. So excited!!

good luck, we have 33 serama eggs due to hatch May 14, and another on May 21 st.

I just love reading what everyone has set in the incubator! I have made it to day 10 so far. Oh the suspense. I candled my 12 silkie eggs and 6 EEs. I dont really know what i am doing but I have read a lot and looked at pictures. Only 4 eggs are suspected clears (3 silkies and 1 EE) but I am not throwing any out.
When I candle, I can see air sack on the fat end, lots of veins, dark blob.. and on some of the silkies, I watched movement. - yay! Despite some temp flux, they are alive!

i dont throw any away right away either. but they sound good! you're halfway there! we candle all of the eggs tomorrow night and will remove the clears/quitters to make room for more. I think my dad is an enabler! he wants just a couple 5 total and I get to figure out what to do with the rest!

I have 2 bators going right now.... 41 eggs in each one! 1st bator should hatch on May 12th, 2nd bator should hatch on May 18th.

I have 74 eggs from a Barred Rock Rooster over Barred Rock Hens, Barred Rock Rooster over Dominique Hens and Barred Rock Rooster over Black Star Sex-Linked Hens. Then I have 8 Americauna eggs. (Talk about hard to see through!)

I candled the first bator on Sat May 3rd and pulled 2 clears. I have 2 questionables. 2 of the Americaunas are dark enough I can't see squat! So, they are staying. I candled the second bator last night and pulled 0 !!! I couldn't believe it. Something alive and growing in each one! That's a first for me.

I only plan on keeping the Americaunas. All the others are spoken for already. Depending on what hatches, I may have to do another round to keep everyone happy.

My last batch was soooo sad, I'm hoping this one goes better!

So exciting, it's lockdown day! One last candling yielded an early quitter. Plus there is one Welsummer Egg that is questionable, but I can't see in it enough to decide what's going on. So I left it in. So the tally is 24 eggs set, 9 infertile, 1 early quitter, 14 eggs made it to lockdown. Guess I better go set up that brooder.......
