Wait! Is that a blue EE? On man, I've been trying for one for a while now. I have some real pretty blue eggs in now, and the photos of the hens showed some blues..crossing fingers.

Just saw your post on the silkie thread..so, this must be a silkie. Very nice light blue. I posted on the silkie thread about the color. I want blue! I want splash! lol... In either the EE or my silkies.

Oh, you don't need your humidity up that high! Unless..you are hatching ducks..geese?  55% to 62% is best.  That damp towel is raising it up that high.  It's ok for the membrane to yellow a bit where they first pip.

Should I take the paper towel out to bring the humidity down? X

Wow, congrats! What are those blue ones? I love me some blue chickens. :)

thanks! I honestly have no idea! they are from my friend's flock. I thought they might have been from a red laced white cornish crossed on blue laced red wyandotte BUT I am not sure... there is another dark brown chick that I also think could be that cross.. or it favors the blrw side for looks..

Thanks again Cynthia! I have a chick! The first egg that pipped is now the first chick that hatched! It is a silkie! Oh yay! (DH woke me up all excited. Hehe)
I am a few pages behind but wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I have 20 motionless and unpipped eggs in the incubator on morning of Day 21. What if they have a problem? Should I try candling them?
I think I would candle them, if it were me... I will read the next few pages and see if you updated again! :)

Ok thank you I have had a reply on the post I put up asking for help and everyone is saying the same to wait a bit, just worried about the membrane drying out as it is completely white, I have a damp paper towel on it but it's putting my humidity up to 80, thanks for all your help x

white membrane is GOOD

a yellow membrane is DRY and needs to be moistened. here is a photo of a dry membrane on an egg that pipped the wrong end. I used neosporin anti-biotic ointment (without pain reliever, off brand is ok) to moisten the exposed membrane areas.

this chick pipped the wrong end at 5am day 21 and started BLEEDING. I had many other pips so I could not open the incubator. I told the chick it was on it's own, and I thought it would probably die before I could intervene. I made sure to give it 24 hours to absorb all the veins and yolk, since it was bleeding, I am certain they were not absorbed at time of pip.
This photo was taken day 22 at 10 am so about 30 hours after pip. I started peeling away the very dry membrane (the chick just made the pip hole bigger, couldnt spin/zip). I worked slowly, adding neosporin to all the edges and using sterile tweezers to disconnect the dried membrane from the feathers.
I zipped shell all the way around, and did not sever the membrane at all. the chick hatched on it's own about 2 hours later.
here is the zip I made:
