I've only just started wading in the Hedemora pool of awesomeness but I feel a pull to it. I guess everyone has that one breed that just "speaks" to them even though I love all of my chickens for different reasons. The Hedemora did very well this winter when other breeds lost parts of their toes to frostbite. All of my males (multiple breeds) didn't have much for comb lost and the Hedemora had nearly nil. I'll keep an eye on them this summer when heat is more their bane. So far I've noted when my single woolly male overworks himself (i.e. running after girls) he quickly overheats and breathes squeaky. When he's caught his breath he's OK. So I'll have to work on that consideration.I love the little EE I have. But, I have a trio; with beards and muffs. I don't have them mixed with anything so they are not autosexing...wish they were! My roo is my Avatar. We set 6 last time and 6 hatched. Hardest to see in the green shells tho so I have no idea who's hatching today. If they all hatch I am going to have to start selling some bc I will have way too many ! LOL
How do you like the Hedemora breed? They are supposed to be very cold hardy! Certainly look beautiful.
My Hona's are starting to PIP now!![]()
