May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

Well, I made it to lockdown day yesterday! I had a real hard time candling these dark eggs, and really couldn't tell if they were developing, so I am so excited today to see an egg rocking and I'm pretty sure I heard chirps!

I have been checking the windows on the bator waaay too much for day 19, but I can't help it I am ready for my new babies to hatch!!!

ya gotta luv it that's how it all starts ,,, one day your happy having a few hens for fresh eggs then a few more and then a roo or two one day your walking about in the feed store and spot a incubator and you think ,,, well I'll give it a try ... It works and along come a few more and more and more and wella you have no place to keep them so you build a few more pens problem solved so know that you have the new housing and success with the bator you buy some eggs of that breed you always just had to have but could never find at chick days at the feed store so you order eggs and a way you go and go and go ohhhh now you need more pens and more and more ..... Well that's how it happened to me any way lol I don't think my story is a whole lot different than many here ,,,,, hooked chicken math gotta love it !

Not sure if it is chicken math, or just the math of an obsessive person. I am bad with the chickens, and most everything. Just got back from my hunting shack. had spent a few days there planting the flower garden. By time I got done, I had put in over 1,000 Glad bulbs, along with many others. Then I get back home to find out I am 500 posts behind in here :}

Well it has been a long disappointing day. I have to leave at 4am to take hubby to the airport. Then not sure what I will do tomorrow. Hopefully not spend all day messing with an incubator!

1000 glads wow it will look like a city park next spring, lol well I dont know if it is obsessive but I sure do enjoy my birds and hatching them out. I turn my free range flock out about six in the am and I can sit and watch them jump into the daily routine and run out to gleen the best bugs off the wet grass the groups break up and stake their claim I can hear the cackling from the hen house up the hill and walk by the incubators on my way for another cup a Joe just knowing there is a new bunch coming to join in the fun ,,,,,obsessive ?? Life is good

Well, I got my hatchery 12 chicks, and 5 goslings. They were supposed to be a mix, and I got all toulose, but oh well. Also, the first 2 eggs from my chickens are pipped:) excited to see how they turn out. They are out of a HUGE RIR x Phoenix roo, that is red with lacing on his chest, and a silver phoenix hen.

Never again will I hatch and put in so many egg cartons...................I have 7 6 egg cartons in there
It left no room for chicks................some have become trapped between the cartons.............................
What could I have been thinking...or not thinking..........................
I have kind of lost count..7 out,about the same in pips...1.zip
Cannot get the temp over 95.wonder if my heating element is giving up.
My head hurts and I am stressed....................
After the hatch is over........I CALL IT FUN...........................................

Sorry it's so stressful. It's funny how it can be stressful and yet it is also fun, right?
