Thx

Anyways, my broody is a Blue Swedish/Indian Runner duck. She is laying on 8 eggs of unknown breeds. I candled yesterday (day 4) to find that 7 of the eight were fertile and developing beautifully (especially giving that you usually can't see anything until day 5-8). This their development so far:

that belongs to my blue splash maran Rita she dont give me many but they are pretty lol
That's a pretty egg! It's worth the wait if you don't have to count on it for a steady egg supply right? I have a 2 week old splash maran, but it didn't come out of an egg that puuuurdy

love that pinkish color.

Update.Ok with school let out kids wanna shop duck run and dealings on goat (FREEBIE) and talks of guineas (Going) and turkey's (Coming) I get home and settle the ducks in, feed water settle chickens down and check bator. 2 little BAs staring at me. Last check 1/2 hr ago was 2 chicks 7-8 pips about same rollie pollies and chirps everywhere. HEHE I got my bird fix..... until hatch is over then its on again. WOW addiction feels so good right about now LOL.
Gonna keep an eye on the coops tonight with new extra chirping and quacking outside. Left a light on for the younger ducks and the babies I just moved out to make room for the new babies.

And to top it off my wafer thermostat (That I didn't need day after I ordered it!) came today. Soooooooooo....... I can make that other cooler into BIG GREEN HATCHING MACHINE. Which is smaller than the styro I made earlier this week but sounds manlier. SO in a week, or so if I get busy I will be up to an able capacity of around 200 eggs setting and hatching give or take, not figuring in any drawers that I not sure I'll make but prolly will and possably double that.... sigh high hopes and pipe dreams.

Anyway back to check bator and then browse thru some other post. Check back later.

PS Grats on all the new babies everyone.

My dad finally found out about the secret hatching attempt. He hasn't made me throw the eggs in the compost yet, at least

. The broody coop where the eggs are has a wasp nest, any tips on getting rid of those?
Gasoline at night when it is cold and they cannot move as quickly as when they are warm...that should kill it. When you are sure they are dead, you can knock it down so they don't come back. Just pour or spray the stuff over it. That is all you need to do.

I had one hatch this morning and it has been hanging out alone all day. It seems strange for there to be such a big gap. There is still movement and they are slowly pecking at their holes though. Tomorrow will be day 21. I guess one was just an early hatcher?

That one is the scout. I think they send one out ahead to make sure the coast is clear!

But I think if you kill them but leave the nest it will keep any wasps from building there in the future.

Lets see if this works.
Never posted a video before.

Just a few minutes watching the chicks.
These are my unknown mix breed auction eggs.

Mine pipped like 6 then 2 scouts popped out of nowhere. They were not even pipped when I left. 1 was facing east the other north. Hmmm all the coops are to the north of the house and I believe my guineas are laying across the road to the east on the neighbors cattle grounds.

Up to 4 chickies out and about and 8 more pips I can see from the magic looking glass. That was 1/2 hr ago or so needed make my rounds of the property got a coon last week and feral cats won't stay away from the barn. But anyway 1 last check then its time to get some sleep more work tomorrow and a goat i hope to pick up. Nite all and good luck with rest hatching still.
