as long as she waits for the other 8 to hatch you are golden! You are hatching the smart way by incubating with natural heat. I would love to see a broody with her chicks...hoping that some of these ones that I'm hatching will make good moms in the future too.

Yes, my hatch last night. And I had to assist. Those saddle large air cells are a killer for sure. Only 1 hatched, the other 2 pipped internally and died.
Oh, sorry! At least you got one. Were they backwards too? I was not advanced enough to help the ones that were in there backwards from the last batch that we had shipped...You did great to get Fidel or Fife out of there!

Sadly one of the chicks died, but not all of them can live. Last hatch 14 out of 15 hatched. One died and it never acted quite right since the beginning. Honetly I kind of expected more than one to die and not that many hatch. Hopefully this will be the only chick that passes away for this hatch. And I love to listen to chicks chirp.

I would love to have a broody too!

Chicks are popping out all over!
It is good to hear of all the great new chicks, and the great saves!
There sure will be a lot more chicks in the world by the end of the month.

I just candled my 28 day 7's and took out 4 that were definite bloodrings. Marked 10 as developing, 7 as looks clear 5 watch and 2 (plus 2 of the developing ones) as possible bloodrings. So despite to 108 temp spike on day 3, for shipped eggs I don't think that's too bad... Well... Actually only 22 were shipped... And 3 of the 4 i pulled were from that group...my other 5 eggs are developing or watch...
