May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

My chick are hatching now but i need help please
Earlier there was a peep in the chick and i took it out to check on it i put itback in and left it and i few minute later the hen went crazy and rippedit open it got the chick out and ate the shell i thought it was a good mother the chick was cheeping and everything was fine so i came back about half an hour later and she had ripped the chick apart and ate half off it i was so worried i looked up online and it said that the hen sometimes kills all the chicks because its not their own so i went out 5 minutes ago and tried to get the hen out to get the eggs and put them in an incubator and i started to move the hen about and i saw a baby chick underneath fine but then the hen went crazy and peeked an egg open but there was nothing in it so i am very worried if wat will happen in the morning if all my chicks will die and i will have none

By the way i also read up that they kill the chicks if there is something wrong with it i just dont know what to do

I would leave her alone, it is very evident that you being their is upsetting her. Let nature take its course.

Some people told me to remove the chick and eggs so i did and the chick is fine and one other egg is peeped and the chick is chirping so everything should be alright hopefully everything should be alright

Day 19, and I now have two hatched. They are proceeding to play kickball with the other eggs! One more is zipped, and has one leg out now. luckily I have to be out of town all day tomorrow, so there will be no temptation! Second row from the bottom 3rd egg from the right has hatched, It is a big fluffy grey chick. Jim

Can't wait to see what you get from these eggs. A surprise hatch sounds like so much fun!

Broody hen just hatched 6 Brown Sussex/Delaware fertilized eggs that I found on craigslist. Four more eggs that might hatch. Out of a dozen, one broken egg and one dead chickie.

well the power here is really pretty stable Costa Rica has one of the best electricity grids in central America and sell the excess to panama and Nicaragua and the other countries so when they do go down they plan it and let us know so we can plan around it as for unplanned i would say about the same as back home in the states storms and poles hit by cars and such so not to bad

she will accept any baby you put with her or eggs for that matter i have used broody hens to hatch and brood ducks belive it or not so dont worry about that i think they will be fine she should care for them all i hope hands off and let her roll with it
