May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

Howdy all! Well it only took me 2 weeks to recover from my last failed (0%) hatch, I said I would not hatch again and here I am.....I made some alterations to the incubator and reviewed my notes and decided to give quail a go this time. I am setting 25 Golden Coturnix Quail in 2-3 days depending on the post office. I also found a local source so I am tempted to grab another dozen if I can coordinate the timing right....

Everyone was right, It is addicting!

. Yes it is ,,,, I hope your quail do well they are crazy at hatch the come out like a swarm of bees

Aww. are you already putting a spash of I unpasteurized apple cider vinegar in their water? That should help their overall health. Hoping the others stay healthy and strong!

. How many have you lost Mel ? I too lost the one I assisted he was found out by himself in the brooder pen and was freezing the other 10 were tucked under moms wings I dont know why he was solo it just kills me

Hatch day is tomorrow. Had to turn the AC on, we hit 90 yesterday. It made my bators go NUTTY! Temp jumped right before I turned on AC to 102, then finally leveled off, now they have dropped to 97!!! Egads! Not the day before hatch day!

Same here..........temp a little low this morning..................weird weather here.one day 80's.next 60's.............
Ended up with 42 at lockdown.2 I probably should have tossed....................

I having an issue with humidity. I have 17 LF Cochin eggs on lockdown and hatch day is tomorrow night. I CANNOT get the humidity to go above 45%. I have two bowls with water and sponges and two wet paper towels in the incubator and the water channels are filled. I've read everything I can find on raising humidity and at this point I have no idea what to do! I'm wondering if the hygrometer has just gone bad. I changed the batteries in it but level stayed the same. With as much water, sponges, and paper towels in the bator, HOW can the humidity be only 45%?

Any ideas?

Ok I had 4 chicks hatch this past Thursday. They weren't suppose to hatch until saturday. Well none of the eggs left had done anything come sunday. But i decided I would give them a few more days since some hatched early, maybe some would hatch late. I had some hatch yesterday. I didnt count how many though, I was very busy. So now I am going to leave the rest of the eggs in until late tomorrow. Cause I guess they decided they are going to take there sweet old time and hatch all over the place lol!

Tnx jac it happens , I kind of wish I would have just put him in a brooder and did the mom thing myself ,,, he was behind the others by a few days and weak after his trip to the edge but that's just the way it is , I need to catch up on this thread I have not had much time to keep up it's been crazy the last few days one bator in lockdown with a few rollers this morning the other bator doing double duty with 37 on day 14 and 7 on day ? Heck I can't remember it's our intercontinental hatch and another broody going today and still don't have my breeder coop done lol almost laying boxes then out to the farm ! Now I need to scan the thread and catch up on the great hatches going on
