May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

He had lost all energy and seemed to be suffering a great deal...and the protrusion was just getting bigger every few minutes. I did the humane thing and ended his suffering. It only lasted a few seconds but was still heart wrenching.

I am so sorry..........................

I have had to do this and even though I know it is the best for the chick................it hurts..............
Good of you to be so kind letting it go

Just wanted to show you guys the worst aircells on my shipped hedemora eggs due in 5 days. I'm moving the whole incubator into the dark room and candling without handling the eggs, because these aircells are BAD...

No.1 : If you look closely this one extends down towards the pointy end of the egg, as well as being saddle dip. The embryo is active and kicking.

No.2: This one looks almost normal when I put it in a specific position in the eggtray, but when picked up it shows that the aircell isn't stable at all.

No. 3: Rather typical saddle dip shape to this one, but the size concerns me. That is going to be one small chicken!! Also, the most porous egg in the batch.

No.4: Seriously. This looks like a freakin continent on a map.

For reference, here's an egg from my own flock that was both laid and set the same day:

So... Wanna place bets on how many surviving chicks I get from these?

Needless to say, my expectations are low - but my hopes are high!

Mel those look just like my shipped Tolbunt eggs! Day 21 was at 11pm last night, no pips, no movement, nothing. I feel your pain. I am giving them a couple more days. Last hatch I got 1 out of 9.

I'm expecting 18 Lav/Split Ameraucana eggs in a couple of days max...AND my SB-OEGB hen Chandra decided to go broody on us yesterday. I've been setting aside the eggs laid every day for the last 7 days; 3 weren't fertile but 4 were. She laid one the day before yesterday and another yesterday, and then settled in the single nesting box and has gotten MEAN with anyone or anything coming near her. I tucked the other 4 fertile eggs under her carefully with a lot of hard pecks and fussing from her, as she scooted them up under her and fluffed herself around them. I'm going to have babies every-freakin-where in a few weeks!

Out of my 24 sizzle eggs I have 12 confirmed fertile, 7 unknown shell is dark and pourous, 5 clear that I pitched. The 6 Tolbunts in with them are doing wonderful! Nice movement, good air cells, hatch day Tuesday! My ones on lockdown are being very quiet. Hatch day tomorrow. And here is Fifi/Fidel Mean muggin me........lol
June hatch thread anyone ?
I am in for sure!
ya gotta luv it that's how it all starts ,,, one day your happy having a few hens for fresh eggs then a few more and then a roo or two one day your walking about in the feed store and spot a incubator and you think ,,, well I'll give it a try ... It works and along come a few more and more and more and wella you have no place to keep them so you build a few more pens problem solved so know that you have the new housing and success with the bator you buy some eggs of that breed you always just had to have but could never find at chick days at the feed store so you order eggs and a way you go and go and go ohhhh now you need more pens and more and more ..... Well that's how it happened to me any way lol I don't think my story is a whole lot different than many here ,,,,, hooked chicken math gotta love it !
yep sounds familiar. Lol

So I decided to quickly calibrate my thermometers. They were off seriously. I may lose this hatch!
Oh no! Well, next time they won't be off now that you've calibrated them
