Mayonnaise

K, I will try and try again till I get this. My egg salad is good but I can only imagine the delight if made with my own mayo! If all else fails, I will be off to Walmart to purchase my very own stick blender!!!! SHHH just don't tell the DH! lol

Well I did it but I followed the recipe from good eats ... it is yummy. It's a bit thin to I think I stopped too soon with the mixing.

I think I will tweak the recipe next time.. I'm trying to get it to tast like Hellmann's

I think the Hellmann's has more sugar than the good eat's one so I'm going to start there. Plus I was unable to find soy oil (got that from the lable).

Here are the ingrediants used in the good eats link

1 large egg yoke (I used the whole egg)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp mustard powder
2 pinches sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tbl White wine vinager
1 cup safflower oil (I used olive oil)

at first only add the egg, salt, mustard powder, sugar and half of the lemon juice and vinager. Slowly drizzel in the oil while mixing. When half of the oil has been added and it is looking like mayonnaise then add the other half of the lemon juice and vinager and continue drizzeling in oil while blending until done.

I much prefer the white "salad dressing" to Mayo, even hellmans.Anyone know how to make the White "Salad dressing" I use that for everything- tuna/chicken salad, BLT's, tomato sandwiches, turkey clubs, etc. etc. Thanks folks- I'll try the may when my hens start laying, just wondering if anyone has any "salad dressing" directions. Thanks Keystonepaul
