McDonald's Drive Thru Rant *Rawr*

The other day I went to MDs through drive-thru. I saw the advertisement for the iced mocha and decided to have one with my order. Payed at 1st window, pulled up to 2nd window where I was given all but the iced mocha. I had to tell the "kid" I hadn't gotten the mocha, so he told me to pull up. I waited for 15min and went inside. They hadn't even started to make the mocha and I had to wait more. Now come on, you advertise something, it's usually at the ready. I know I worked at MDs years ago.

Ranting about things is fun-- have you noticed that? It makes people happier when they can get together and complain about things, let off steam....I don't know why, but it does. Maybe because it reminds them that there are other people suffering all of the same little irritations in life right along with them. I've never, ever harassed a service worker-- I prefer to have little ranty sessions like this, while voting with my feet. Different things make different people happy.

I am a chef. If someone tells me the food is too slow, it's too slow. I apologise for the wait and explain that i'm cooking thier order again because I wasn't happy with the results the first time and I WILL NOT serve substandard food, then I tell them EXACTLY how much longer it will be.

1. Acknowledge that they are unhappy.
2. Let them know they will get good food.
3. they know when they will get it.

That takes about 15sec, makes them happy and they go away.

Yes, I was once a Manager ad McD's. and YES we did run out of things from time to time too. BUT!!! we told all our casheers that there will be a wait on that particular item and to suggest something else. OR we made sure to inform them that their selection is being cooked to order and that will take a little extra time. I NEVER had a complaint.

It dosen't matter how long it really takes to cook more food as long as you tell the customers how long it will take for them to get their order. It's common courtacy, They may only have a 15 min lunch break and if it takes 14 min to get a freekin salad---there's a problem.
The manager should be fired.....

I'm off my soapbox now

Some Colorado police officers exemplify how you should not deal with your McDonald's order taking too long:
Sources familiar with the case, and the fast food worker's account of what happened, say two off-duty Denver police officers placed an order from their car in the early morning hours of May 21. But once at the drive through window, the employee said the men became agitated and angry at how long their food was taking. The men thought they were being ignored, according to contacts familiar with the worker's account. The male clerk then said one of the officer's flashed his police badge and pointed a pistol through the drive through window in a threatening manner, before driving off without paying.

I absolutely agree and thank you for taking the time to tell the customers what is going on. That is all I ask for is that they don't wait until they have your money, give you a drink (with no straw) then tell you the wait is going to be XX minutes. It should then up to the customer to decide if they want to wait or pick something else.
