MCMURRAY catalog is out!

We are still in the deciding stage regarding what kind of chicks to buy this spring. Right now , the plan is to get about six chicks.

We are considering two each of:

Buff Orpingtons

Barred Plymouth Rocks

Australorp

Of course, this is all subject to change.

If my dd's 4H offers a group order this year, I may go that route. It might save some money. If not, I will probably order from a hatchery.

You can't go wrong with any of those, contry chick, and I believe they are all easily got whereever you are - or, indeed, from McMurray's.

Who's got the print catalog, and anything new in there this year?

I'm going to get some meat birds...and then pick up some breeds of chicks I don't have yet...I will probably add 25 layers to my existing ones. Specifically which is still T.B.D.

Can't wait for the hardcopy!

I haven't recieved my paper catalog yet, I think the mail lady may have hijacked it. I was going to start a flock in the spring, had it ALL figured out. Then guess what....DH ate, mostly by himself 5 dozen, yes I said 5 dozen eggs himself this past week.

Now I have to completely rethink everything coop, run I was going to build and number of chickens I need to get. LOL He doesn't know it but he is feeding an addiction I am just getting started on. If only he knew.

Come on catalog, come on. If I had known he had eaten all those eggs (they were in the 5 dozen box from wally world and not visible to the eye) I would have found a way to make it to the swap yesterday and brought home chickens and put them in his car until the coop and run were done.

He just left to go buy another 5 dozen. Maybe the kids and I will get to use some this week.

DH said no more chickens! The last order I was supposed to only keep two roos but I managed to work 4 pullets into the flock also!

Now the coop is getting crowded. We could add another small coop ... you know for meat birds ..... and maybe a few layers .... maybe a guinea or two .........

I read that last night and ran out to check my mail at 10 at night. Have I metioned lately it is below freezing out! No catalog in my box

I'm the same way with the seed catalogs by the time Iime done with them they have swelled to twice the size they were and it looks like my hens were scratching through them.

I want some chickies too from them, but they don't have all the breeds we want. Their minimum is 25 chix, too. They will add males for warmth, though--does that mean if I ordered 10 chicks that the extras would be thrown in to total 25 or do I have to buy 25?
