IMHO, I would very surprised if you got a response back. They most likely get tons of emails, letters and phone calls about this same issue from chicken farmers all over the country.

i will do so , as of right now im writing it down on paper and when im ready i will post here on the boards and get help on the corrections

Then it is your job, as a flock owner and/or egg seller to inform your customers on these differences. Believe me, I'm (almost) with you on this. I love my chickens, they are spoiled rotten creatures. I also think they lay the tastiest egg I've ever eaten.

But I also take the time to explain how my birds are raised, what they eat, how they are caged, et cetera to my egg buyers. I made up half-page information sheets with data from the MotherEarthNews study comparing 'backyard eggs' to 'store eggs'.

Every person who makes the shocked face "you have chickens?!?!?" at me - I explain these fundamental differences. It is our duty, as small flock owners to inform these 'ordinary people' how inhumanely their egg layers are treated, how long those eggs might have been sitting in a warehouse or the back of the grocery store, et cetera...

That is really the only 'weapon' we have against giant egg companies like Eggland's Best. I sincerely hope you find the answers you are looking for in your letter to them.

yes i do tell all my buyers .

1) how my chickens are treated

2) what my chickens are fed

3) how my chickens live (ie. living quarters )

4) show them the different in living situations , between the big companies and me

I do let them know everything up front and thus the reason i have so many repeat buyers .

Right now i have about 15-20 repeat buyers and they sware by my eggs and keep telling more and more people

I'm not sure I understand what you are 'fighting' here and why exactly you are fighting this fight. In you email to Eggland's Best, all I can come up with is you are unhappy that their eggs dont look like yours. So what? They never said they look like farm fresh eggs.

They are fed a vegetarian diet, they are NOT vegetarians, nor does the company claim them to be. From their website:

Eggland’s Best hen feed is a patented all-natural, all-vegetarian feed that contains healthy grains, canola oil, and an all-natural supplement of rice bran, alfalfa, sea kelp and Vitamin E. The Eggland’s Best hen feed contains no animal fat, no animal by-products, and no recycled or processed food. Eggland’s Best never uses hormones, steroids, or antibiotics of any kind.

Whats wrong with that diet? 90% of the chicken feed out there now contains NO animal by-products, look at the labels. Most commercial feeds out there are 'vegetarian' usually mostly soy and plant protein, look at the labels.

So I dont understand what you are 'fighting' here and what 'you are going to get to the bottom of'. I think alot of people are misunderstanding the words and descriptions that Eggland's Best is using and twisting it to sound like they are against chicken farmers or something. They never said their eggs were better than your eggs and the only time I saw them use the term 'best' is in the name, Eggland's Best. Because it is the best they have.

If you are upset that the general public is not educated enough about eggs and the nutrition going into hens, then your fight is with the wrong group. It's not Egglands Best fault that the general public doesnt know the facts. Egglands Best has not lied, they just dont disclose information about backyard farm fresh eggs, and why should they?
