Me, my chickens, and my NEIGHBORS chickens...Grrrrrrr!

But they are smart..only one chicken at a time in my coop so they don't all get caught!

One down, 3 to go.

If they continue to do it, you will slowly catch them all. If they dont, then atleast you got one!

Even though it's unfair as all heck to your chickens, could you just close them in their coop (no freeranging) for a few days? Then the neighbors chickens can't get to your food and you might have a fighting chance of luring and trapping them with treats.

Plus it sounds like your silkies could use a break from the roaming thugs.

If they lived next to me they might find their way into the stewpot ..... one by one.

Tell him to get HIS chickens the heck out of your yard...you're doing all the work!

I think that you should trap em one at a time when they're eating your bird's food...maybe he's feeding them crap and your's is better...

Heck Obelisk thinks anything on a plate is better than what she gets even if it's the same thing...

I'm thinking that they know they're toast in a crappy coop.

I will post pics asap of these yardbirds. Yes they are a pain in the arse. They sometimes pick on my poor silkies. I could never kill them though. Great suggestion of trapping them in MY coop while they eat MY food. If I get them all back in his coop and they are let out, then back they come. Guess I'm telling him they are a threat to my chickens and if he can't keep them locked up then get RID of them. The neighbor is so very cool, he'll be OK with it.
Think I'll start trapping them tomorrow. This has GOT to end. But OH how I wish for an OWL right now!!!

when you catch them, clip their wings (of course ask your neighbor to do this also and be sure to provide a drowing showing how to do this properly) so this problem does not keep reoccurring.

Well I got them trapped in my pen! When I let my chickens out this morning I threw around some scratch. The neighbor's thugs went in the pen to eat it, while my silkies ate it outside the pen. So now what? My Silkies don't have access to the coop and pen now...they are free ranging. I hope they already laid eggs for the day because they can't get in the coop!
So the thugs are in my 10'x20' pen...HOW DO I CATCH THEM??

Don't put yourself out. You've already confined them, at the risk of leaving your birds with no access to your coop. Call your neighbor; they are his problem to catch.

JMHO

Good luck; this must be maddening.

How is it going Suebee? Hope it works out for you. I kind of feel sorry for those other birds, tho. It's not their fault. Hopefully your neighbor fixes the problem for you.
