Medicated feed

The new coccidiostat they use is Amprolium and isn't harmful. You can do a search on here if you haven't already to give better details about it along with testimonials from experienced Duck enthusiasts that use it, and i use it as well with no problems.

Sorry though, because i don't know where exactly you could find specific scientific information proving its not harmful. Good Luck.

So the first paragraph is the qoute myth.

so the information stands as

"Medicated Starter with Amprolium or Bacitracin in it will NOT harm your waterfowl. I have confirmed this with two Poultry Research Veterinarians. I have used medicated starter on all of my birds for years now – chicks and ducklings alike – and have had no problem. This myth was actually once true years ago when different types of drugs were used in medicated feeds. But with the use of Amprolium in particular now, it is no longer a concern."

yep there it is in Blk and white, now i don't have to worry when my ducks eat the medicated chick starter even though they can barely get their bills into the small holes

they still manage to eat quite a bit.

The correct answer for medicated feed regarding duclings is this:

In the past feed companies used arsenic compounds to medicate their feed.

Arsenic is a known toxic poison, it was considered harmfull for waterfowl. How was it good enough for chickens I do not know.

Now it seems feed companies are using Amplorium as a cocci med.

It is considered OK for ducks.

So read your labels to be sure.

nope just baby chicks hatching under broodies but since I put out the baby chick feed it's the hit of the party all the ducks want to eat it. hey did your gosling hatch yet? and did you get your runners from Holleddreads yet?
