Medistatin (Nystatin) Dose

So this morning I made a nystatin suspension for a dear friend of mine and thought I should share how I did it.

1. Did a bunch of math ( ) and figured out that I needed 15 grams of powder.
2. Weighed 15 grams using the gram scale.
3. Placed powder in a mortar then slowly added the suspension liquid (~32 ml) while stirring with the pestal.

For anyone that decides to use the Medistatin nystatin, when using the measuring spoon that it comes with, one level spoon = 3 grams.

Each gram = 400,000 IU, so one level spoon = 12,000,000 IU. The dose I use is 300,000 IU per kilogram, so one level spoon will treat 8-kilograms (17.6 pounds).

Could someone tell me where I can buy a small amount of Medistatin for my cockatiel babies in the box that have symptoms of stargazing. I've checked several websites but it is sold out. I don't think it's in the US over the counter.

Okay I am confused. If it's 300,00 IU per kilogram, then 1 level spoon would treat 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds), not 8 (17.6 Pounds)

I know this is old, the level scoop is 5G according to the package. Is the 1/2tsp x2a day correct dosage?
