Oh my gosh! I have midges twin!!!!! I have 6 ideal babies....including 3 standard cochins. They're all 5 weeks old now and the barred cochin has not grown at all since day 1 or 2. The lone sebright bantam I have towers over her! This little cochin was shaky for the first few weeks, short wide legs, spent most of her time sitting or laying down, but always ate and drank and pooed normally. The other birds never pick on her so there's been no need to separate. She's feathering much more slowly, has feathers on about half her wings now (while the other cochins are fully feathered and only have down on their heads and abdomens. After reading your post I did a little research on dwarfism in chickens and I'm sure that's what she (and your bird) has. I guess there are three different types of dwarfism, some inherited, most not. So interesting. I'm thrilled to have read your post because it may give me an answer to "what's wrong with flappy!"
