They are so cute, i swear scovie babies never get old lol...

As someone who has seen.. no clue anymore just a lot... i find the puffiest chest ones tend to turn out to be drakes... no hard and fast science behind this just i can glance at a clutch and have a fairly good idea who is going in what direction...

Drakes have a less proportioned look to them, ducks have a more put together look... your draklets will grow quicker too.. while the ducks will almost appear 'falling behind'

Post in a few weeks... scovies grow very fast... enjoy!

So this morning I got 4 Muscovy ducklings from a neighbour. It’s colder weather and the mama duck did not have a good track record with taking care of babies, so she didn’t want to worry about them.
So I took them in and I’m in love :love

Anyway, here’s some pictures and maybe you could help me with guessing the gender of each.

Dude: the first to imprint, always peeping like crazy, think he might be a drak. He follows me around, he jumped up at my phone to peck the flash(light).

Moby: I’m not sure about this one, quiet but still inquisitive . Looks very similar to Dude. Except has a V of yellow above the bill, instead of dark till the bill.

Ruby: an occasional peeper, but I’m hoping she’s a hen

Mallory: one of the shy ones, the second picture is not a good presentation of her character though, she is very quiet, almost never peeps.

the legs and beaks can help to a degree, the ones with thick legs and larger beaks are nearly always males, plus the males usually run ahead of the hens when they are running around.I have chocolates, blacks, grey's and blondes, all came from grey drake over chocolate and black hens, 4 hens are sitting on eggs now
