meet Pixie, the ??? bantam

I have a Pyncheon hen that looks exactly like her, even the white skin and legs! She even lacks the longer nape featering like your picture. I will try and post a picture if I can find my battery charger for my camera! LOL

Pyncheons are a crested fowl, well simi crested. They have a bony knot on the back of the head just behind the comb, that produces and holds the tuffed crest on them. Dont notice anything like that on this one. Would still love to see a pic of yours though. That's some pretty rare bantams!

A few people have suggested an Old English Game Bird with the mille fleur color pattern

Whoa, Hold on, Wait a minute, I originally told you a splash mille fluer Old English Game, based on the color and basic type, But now that I have went back to the pic and saw that she has white earlobes and looking closer at her type, Now I'm saying mille fluer DUTCH bantam, I knew there was something off about her type for being an OEG, and then when I saw the earlobes, I instantly though, Dutch !!!!! . Here is feathersites page on Dutch Bantams, even though there are no mille fluers pictured, they do exist, but you can still see the color of the earlobes and the similarities in type. http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGD/Dutch/BRKDutch.html

I think you have it know...

The Dutch breed will have white earlobes and OEGB have red...

Didnt even notice the lobes! I guess the color of the feathers was masking it. The comb was a touch funky looking all along to me too, but it does in fact look like thatof the hens on that site you posted. Good eye once again! Wouldnt have caught that one there, but I do think you're right with the dutch after relooking her....

Might she be a mix of dutch bantam and OEGB, since her legs are white (they really are, I'll try to get better pics), as well as her skin and earlobes?

She is VERY small and I think close to POL.

When suggesting Dutch, you must also consider her leg color. It is wrong for Dutch. As many of us know here, the OEGB have started popping up with white lobes. I would concede that this may be a dutch x or OEGB x but not pure dutch.

This pullet is a little terrorist.

I had to give the other young pullets (4 of them) access to the heating lamp and the water as they were all freezing and Miss Pixie proceeded to attack them all viciously, even if she's the smallest one. The poor girls were all scared into a corner, so I thought HEY that is so not fair, you want to play it that way? Fine!

So I put her in the pen with the adult birds and it took 5 seconds for her to get a taste of her own medicine.

She's been screeching and keening endlessly since she got here, it's the only thing you hear nonstop (she is LOUD!) and I'm about to wring her little neck!

She isn't fitting in with the flock at all

So at this point, she'll either find a way to settle in with the big girls or I'll have to rehome her.

Sigh
