This is Minnie, a 8 week old Buff Silkie chick, who seemed to have two broken legs, and coccidosis.

She, out of all our birds, was the sweetest, most caring chick. If you would talk to her, she would cock her head at you, like she understood. She passed away 8/5/11. I miss you and think about you every day, sweet Minnie!

This is topic is so sad and moving. We just got chickens this year. We got rid of all of our roosters (sent to freezer camp) but it wasn't too sad for me because we were going to butcher them from the start and so I didn't really 'get to know' the roos... Other than that, no losses (don't worry.. i knocked on wood so i am unjinxed) But if any of my babies died, especially if it was Lacey or Shellby I would be distraught! But if any do die, i will be sure to post a little memorial thing on here!!!
