Good thinking! I'll knock a couple up for the better looking hens. You know there could be an added advantage; free ranging they're not likely to stay on long.Bikinis

Most women I know work for a living, too, so I don't think that is it. I work full time myself, and the chickens are taken care of in the mornings and afternoons. I admit to not being able to spend as much time with them as I'd like, but it's certainly possible to raise and care for them while working. Most men I know work for a living. By the time they get home from work, it's dark and not much time for chickens except maybe on weekends or holidays. Alot of retirees work as well, full time or part time.
Alot of women I know work as well to help support their family. How they find time to take care of chickens is short of a miracle.
How about the 17 guys you know that keep chickens, are they BYC members? If not, invite them to join BYC!![]()
I agree. I think during winter months we see people going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, of course there are exceptions...drive time, traffic, pit stops, or working at home etc... It was never an issue for me since I mostly worked graveyard shift after 22 years in the military. Most women I know work for a living, too, so I don't think that is it. It's probably just a case where we just happen to have more female members. I don't see the problem.
A lot of surfing in upstate NY, is there?Based on my marriage, I am definitely The social one....my husband, on the other hand, not so much! He spends more time surfing and reading on the web.
Yeah, I do a lot of the upkeep with just the porch lights and a flashlight in winter. Having a really secure coop and run really helps because that brings peace of mind.I agree. Depends on the thread, I think. I've seen some where you're gently chastised for not staying "on topic"It's interesting that the emphasis is on the social rather than the chickens.
Unless it's reverse threadedyIt's probably because they are on the Car Fixing Forums. You know showing off their prowess fixing dead beat cars. IDK.Showing up dumb females who don't know nuttin' about how the internal combustion engine works. I took one of the trivia test about cars. I got a 90% score. Said most men couldn't even get 75%. I didn't cheat either, my ex was a mechanic. I better know that it's righty tighty, lefty loosey.

I clicked on this in the hope it was a topic with half-naked hot men holding beautifull poultry... am disappointed :'(
I think that is probably true - my dh does lots of reading on forums but has never joined one (except for our cloth nappy one but that is different as he works on it!).Maybe women are naturally more socially inclined than men?
