Metzer Farms

I ordered 4 harlequins in July and only 1 survived. Upon arrival one was very sickly, and died 2 hours later. The second was our fault, she was accedently suffocated. The third, died of unknown causes, and the fourth is alive and well. She's the best duck I've had yet!

I ordered 12 welsh harequins, 8 pekins, and 5 cayugas. They all arrived safe and sound at the end of September. And they literally traveled across the country! (California to Maine!!!)
They sent 3 extras. All were sexed females, and out of all of them (including the extras) I only ended up with 2 males.

I would HIGHLY recommend Metzer farms

July is a rough month to ship ducklings. Very hot. Metzer had a mail truck broke down one this yaer about 80 miles from the farm. They lost almost everything on board. It saet there for about 90 minutes in the dersert heat. When ever you get ducklings/chicks and there are dead ones, call the hatchery. Most will make it up to you. One of our 4H members had ducklings on taht truck. All arrived dead. It was not Metzer's fault, but the next week a replacement box was received. All were healthy.

I just placed an order for Mallards. Ship date is Feb. 27. That is a perfect date as I am on Spring Break that week.

I ordered 3 female Welsh Harlequins last spring. All arrived in excellent condition and are very healthy. They are all laying now. Pretty ducks with super nice personalities and very calm (for ducks).

I received the ducklings today. My order was 13 mallards and Metzer shipped 14 on Feb. 27, 2012 as promised. There were only 5 survivors.

The rest of the story is this: I went to the post office last week and told them I was expecting live animals and asked to be notified immediately upon arrival. I was assured that would be the case.

According to the tracking label, the ducklings arrived in Detroit at 14:37 (2:34 PM) on Feb. 28th. My local Post Office did not call me until 6:30 AM today, March 1. Where were the ducks for nearly 2 days? I called the PO twice on Tuesday and 3 times on Wednesday and was told that they had not arrived. Apparently they were here somewhere but I guess "Priority Mail" and "Phone Upon Arrival" have different definitions.

Poor ducks died cruelly and needlessly due to the negligence of the USPS.

Metzer Farms has been professional, sympathetic and supportive. The surviving ducklings are doing very well now that they have had some food and water.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss
