We are going to wait and see how she is in the morning. She has a lot of energy right now. She was preening and even jumping up on things, when all day she could hardly walk. I guess tonight I'll hope for the best, and maybe she'll pull through. I sure wish I knew what happened and what she swallowed. Or if she even swallowed anything. It's so hard to know what's wrong just by looking at her...

I also have a question. Is it normal for a chickens tongue to go way back in the throat when you open their mouth? Because that is what Sunni has been doing. Her tongue is really far back, and we aren't sure if it's just because we have her mouth open.

I will be sending good vibes Sunni's way. I pray that she will be okay and you will be spared to have to make that dreadful decision.

Lynn you know what that means! More chicks! Cause you gotta spend the $17.. What are you gonna get?! Lol

Chickenpooplady- I look several times a day too, I'm sure we aren't alone either!

That is great to hear because my family makes fun of me all the time for it!

I check ALL the time...even though my coops and brooders are bursting at the seams

Lol! We are at 4 hens, 6 female chicks, and one male chick right now. Next week we have 40 broiler chicks coming!

Great advice, and if it is weird, I guess I am weird too.

Thanks! I am glad I am not the only one that does that!

We are going to have to put Sunni down tonight. She is in a lot of pain, and we found a large bump just below her waddles that we are almost positive is the thing she got stuck, and it didn't go down like we thought. She is having trouble breathing, and now she is having a hard time swallowing water. The only way we could possibly get whatever it is out is with surgery, and that just isn't something we can afford. She is clearly suffering, and I think the best thing to do is just put her down.

Right now I'm sitting on our screened in porch with Sunni laying on my chest, and I can't stop crying.

I am so sorry.

I don't know about the tongue but I really hope that she is getting better.

Sunni is very alert and curious this morning. She doesn't move around much, but she preened her feathers a little this morning, and she got excited over the treat dish. She still has a really hard time bending her neck to eat and drink. She was also very stubborn when i tried to give her some water with the syringe this morning.

She still has some fight in her, which is a good sign. I guess I'll just have to see how the day goes.

That's good news that she was excited about the treat dish. Hopefully she drinks and eats a bit on her own today!!

My hubby went out to the coop at 7:30 this morning and this was already in the nest box;

the white egg is a large from the store, just for comparison.

It's an olive egg!!!!!!!!

It looks a bit more olive in the photo than real life but it's a beautiful deep green and another brown today too. I am
assuming it is Izzy's egg because she has been the only one squatting for me and she was in and out of the coop squawking all day
yesterday. The brown egg looks like the same color as the other day so I'm assuming it's Scarlett again.
So exciting!!!! My cochin has been in and out of the box this morning a lot too as well as Junior. So much fun!!!

Congrats!! Izzys egg is as pretty as she is! At first I thought the white one was one of yours and I was like she got a nice basket today. I may need to add a 3rd EE, you convinced me to add a second and now I want a 3rd.

Dopey me... I didn't get any white egg layers!!!! Next time

I started with 2 EE's in my order, changed it to 3 then changed to 4. So glad I did. They're all so different looking but I'm sure it's the luck of the draw
on how they end up looking. I could have gotten 4 very similar looking girls.

They are beautiful!!! Congrats!!!! I wish Olivia would start laying those green or blue eggs. I've ordered 2 more EE's I tried to add more, but no more females were available for the hatch date.

We had this one this morning:

It is so much lighter then the other brown ones we've been getting before, I am thinking Big Mama the BO laid it. She came in and kept talking to my daughter and me in the coop when we were getting it, the others just stayed out. So I think she is laying, not sure. But I had no eggs yesterday, and I thought Ash would just skip one day not two. Maybe it is hers, but it is more round and lighter, so confused.
