Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

We couldn't get anything out of her crop. I wanted to try because I was worried about her getting sour crop.

Our dog may have just been teaching her a lesson, but it is so hard to know. He was so vicious with her, and we got him away from her before he could hurt her more. I have never seen him so aggressive.

We gave Sunni about 70 cc of blended scrambled egg and yogurt with some probiotic and digestive enzymes mixed in it. She has been walking around this morning, and she even tried to drink out of her favorite water dish in the kitchen. She still can't see out
of the one eye, so she's having difficulty figuring out how to peck at things and how close she has to get. She's also very exhausted. Someone on here told me she most likely suffered a severe concussion, and she's going to be tired for a long time. I just feel like I failed her. I brought her in the house to keep her safe, and this happens... :(

You're doing all you can for her and you have done so much for her before, don't worry yourself with guilt. Just keep encouraging her to eat and drink and move around and hopefully she'll improve over time. It seemed like forever with our chickens after the dog attack, but really it was just over a week and Big Mama seemed so much better. Oreo, our BR (just like Amber, trsturself's chicken) took longer but she had a deep wound and that's why. Sunni's a fighter, so hang in there. Your guilt will just make it worse for you and her, just focus on her recovery. Many people would have given up on her already, she is so lucky to have you.

I have learned the hard way that these Blue Andulasions and Golden Campine from Meyer's really like to fly. Here is where we spotted Splash this morning, they are always flying out of the garden area. The Golden Campine has flown onto the roof of the chicken run before, but Splash wins for going the highest up. The run roof is 6 feet tall so she is 10 to 12 feet up. Our other fatter breeds would never have been able to do this.

As you can see, she is very proud of herself.

When we had our Blue Andalusian she flew on everything. I was so scared she was going to fly into the neighbors yard and get attacked by their dog. That's why we found her a home on 4 acres!

Yes, Amber also had a very large deep puncture wound. It took her 4 months before she started laying again. So there must've been a lot of healing going on.

Fortunately we do not have close neighbors near where the coop, run and garden are. Our problem is when a dog comes into our yard.

LynnEBC, I'm pretty jealous of your fully enclosed run, how did your girl get out of it?

We do have the fully enclosed run, but I let them free range in the fenced garden while I am home. That would be some trick if she got out of the run. They escape their free range area (the garden) which only has a 4 foot fence around it. I have put bird netting around, but I think I need to add more to stop these high flying birds!

There is one single tree in the garden and apparently, Splash thinks it is so neat to fly up in it now. My other Blue Andulasion, Andi joined her there today too. She is really cute sitting up in the tree, technically she is still in the free range area in the garden, so I am not sure if I should worry about that or not.

The big door at the left opens to the garden and the big door in the middle opens to the run. There is a pop door from the run to the garden on the left side of the run so they can free range all around the coop and run and all in the garden. The chickens you see are actually loose in the garden area.

I need to have a long chat with these hens again. Maybe if I showed them this picture they'd fill it up for me?
