I can't blame you. Some how I was lucky with that as well , we had a warm spell for a few days that just so happen to be the days the chicks were scheduled to arrive. I have them now in the brooder that's in our basement.

What kind did you get?I received 15 chicks from Meyer in October. 2 had noticible problems from the moment I got them, and both died within 5 days. Another seemed a little off and stood out as a "runt" as time went on. That one died at about 5 weeks old. Lost one more to a coyote, but obviously that had nothing to do with the health of the birds. All of the others are doing well, except that we ended up with an extra rooster. Ordered 13 girls and 2 boys. After the deaths and the incorrect sexing, I now have 3 boys and only 8 girls. So 5 fewer layers than I had wanted, and a not-so-good rooster to hen ratio....poor girls. They are 21.5 weeks old now. No eggs yet.....anxiously waiting.
