Meyer Olive Egger?

True, but Olive Eggers were bred specifically for their olive-colored eggs. Their prices are outreagous for a "mutt" but it takes some time out of producing them ourselves. Thankfully, I found a local that doesn't charge half as much as what Meyer does.

Thought I would do an update on one of the olive egger chicks.

Here she is at 1 day old

And here at 8 weeks old

I couldn't get a close up of her face but she has white feathers that make her look like she has eyebrows, which of course I think is funny! The other 2 olive eggers are more of a slate gray/blue with feathered feet, one has a beard w/muffs and the other doesn't. My black one (pictured) started with some feathers on her legs but there are none now, she also has a beard. Just thought I would update and hope that everyones chicks are doing great!

Just an update on my oe's from Meyer my first girl to lay was an all black with beard and muffs no feathers on legs and a straight comb. She did not lay an olive egg :( it was brown. My second girl to lay was either of my all blue/grey one with beard and muffs the other clean faced both with feathered feet and pea combs

Is the egg pictured the egg your black one laid? It actually seems to have a very dark olive color. If you compare it to a brown egg you may notice it has a greenish tinge. If not and the olive color is just from the way the picture shows..well I'm sorry she didn't turn out to be OE. : (

The egg in the pic is not from the black one. This olive egg was laid by one of my blue/grey hen. The black hen lays a brown actually it is a lighter brown than my Golden buffs :/

I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but I went through a similar thing with my order from Meyers. I ordered 4 OE and 4 EE. I couldn't figure out who was who at first, but then it got easier. The EE looked like chipmunks and continued to have sort of stripe patterns. Some resemble Ameraucanas but are obviously mixes. Their legs are smooth. They are all four different sized and different looking with one looking very much like a hawk.

The OE were more grey in color. One died, but the other three continue to grow. One OE looks like a cuckoo pattern while the other two look like blue colored Marans. They have grayish legs and feathered feet. I just got my first olive colored egg today and it was definitely not the blue/green I'm used to seeing from my older backyard mixes. Hope you are getting more olive colors.

I think your black one sounds like a Maran, especially if it's laying brown eggs.
