Meyer or McMurray?

I've ordered from both and prefer Meyer, no doubt. They were cheaper in price and the chicks I ordered from Meyer were specific breeds, where McMurray, I got an assortment. So, if I had ordered specific breeds from McMurray, it would have been much more expensive. I didnt lose any from Meyer, and I lost a couple from McMurray. And the customer service at Meyer is awesome. I'd definitely go with Meyer, especially if they're closer.

I have an order coming in this coming week from Mcmurray, now you all got me wondering. Here is wht I ordered:

BLCP BLACK COCHINS Female
LIBP LIGHT BRAHMAS Females
BELP BROWN EGG LAYERS Females (25)
PACP PARTRIDGE COCHINS Female
WHCP WHITE COCHINS Female
BUCP BUFF COCHINS Female

Ordered their Rainbow Layers last year.

Of the 26, 11 died the first 4 days, first to die was a little Blue Andalusian roo. We barely saved one ("Neckie" our broody Partridge Rock) with lots of tender care.

The following lived:

3 RIRs lived, 7 Barred Rocks, 1 Black Sex link (gave us our first egg), 1 White Rock, 2 Partridge Rocks, and they sent us a Delware roo with a pea comb. (must have had EE in him)

I didn't bother them about a refund.

I was disappointed.

I just buried my 35 peeps yesterday from McMurray. DOA at the post office... Another BYC "Just Hatched" (feel free to read... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=128129) had theirs die after arrival (I believe they received two deals - 50). I've scheduled a reship for a warmer month, but now thinking of a refund. What do you think I should do? I'd send you all a pic I took of the box of bodies (as evidence...) , but I think you can take my word for it. I'm in TX, so think I'll call Ideal.

I have ordered from both and while I havent had too many problems fro McMurray, the quality of the birds suck.

If you want prettier birds, and better customer service, I would go with Meyer.

I'm so sorry. If it was me I'd get the refund. The chicks that did survive from McMurray (9 out of 35) have brought in disease and now my own birds I hatched are also sick because I put them together since they were about the same age:( I know it was a stupid thing to do but I thought hatchery birds were healthy.

I bought form McMurray last year and sweated bullets waiting to see if my chicks got ill. Thankfully they didn't. They are healthy birds but obviously not of really good breeding. The hens lay fine, but their body types are sooooo different than their breed standards only their freather color is right.

I am ordering from Meyer this year as I'm getting some ornamentals and want good looking birds.

I have bought from Meyer several time and have been very happy with their chicks. I have an order coming from them in three weeks. I have heard a lot of bad reviews of MM so I have stayed away from them.
