I received my small box order from Meyers this morning. I wanted to share how they do it and why I am very comfortable ordering winter chicks.
All 9 chicks arrived healthy,active,very warm and alive.
They were in a small box with a heating pack that covered the bottom then the mat material on the bottom and stapled to once side. They had some ventilation holes
Every order arrives with a packet or packets of grogel.
I also know from previous orders that if the weather is questionable or extreme they may cancel or delay the order until a later date. Anyway, the next thing is talking to your post office. There is a new intake clerk ( not correct name) but she did not know to call ( same guy has called me every order every year) anyway, so the postal person had her come out and showed her the label and what to watch for..and that live birds you always call ( the other guy is on vacation) anyway, I told them there is another order coming in a week or so..the postmaster said,yeah once it starts we have hundreds of boxes of chicks,went on to say not all are packaged in boxes as sturdy as this. They had put the chicks inside not on the loading dock which is their standard practice.it is so important to get to know and talk to the people at the post office..

Cute babies! I'm so jealous you have Chocolate Orps!!
