Michigan Chickenstock 2012

Since I have never been to a chicken stock event I was wondering if a Raffle would be possible? People could donate things or we could solicite donations from others and then sell tickets for a drawing to be held that afternoon. Any Ideas?

afvet, usually they way we have done it is if you want to participate in the raffle, you bring something that you wish to donate [usually chicken related] and then you put your name in a jar. When the time comes, names are drawn and you get to pick out the item you would like.

I'll bring something for the raffle....haven't decide on what yet. This sounds like fun & I bet there are a lot of nice items & things! Can't wait!!

Hi! I'm from Goodells, MI. It sounds like I'm lucky, only and hour and a half away. I am planning on coming. I breed Serama, if anyone is interested. I can send pics of birds, or hatch chicks a few weeks before the event. I do have some good stock. 4H and FFA kids contact me early so I can pick out nice free birds for you. I always have sweet pets available too.

I'm so looking forward to meeting Michigan folk. I go to the Michigan Fowlfest, too, and always have a blast. One coming up in April in Alma, I believe.

Any idea how many people usually attend? I'd like to bring something, and would like to know about how many to plan for. Have large roaster, will travel! lol Any electricity available? for roasters and heat lamps for babies if needed. Hmmm, I make desserts, too.....

raylastanford - jackson is appr 45 minutes south of this park. we drive from the chelsea/grass lake area and it takes us about 60 minutes to get there.

There are a couple of outlets under the pavilion where the food is. But in June the chicks shouldn't need any heat lamps. Keeping them from getting over-heated in the sun is more of a concern, I think.

I'm going to dive in head first and commit to hauling my family on an adventure to meet chicken people I've only talked to online.

So the Wilmoth family will be there and will NOT be leaving with chickens...or anything else alive that didn't come with us. lol

I hope I can make it! My friend and I are thinking about coming. She's got the chickens and I have ducks (being incubated at the moment actually). I love Serama's and Silver Sebrights...would love to get a chick of either (roo preferably) or hatching eggs of either some day =) If we can make it we looking forward to the festivities!!!!

Hello again. It has been a long time since I have been here. Came to see when Chickenstock was going to be. There have been some awesome changes to the web site, I see. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it this year to chicken stock. I know that Hotwings is going to be disappointed. We were just talking on the phone about coming and I will have to tell her that I can not go this year. I will miss you all. Have a great time and I am really going to miss the food. Yum.
