Tim Henson, I am just glad the BO girls found such a good home. Now I am getting the "I told you so--too many chickens!" mantra only once a day. Two weeks ago I had to take 11 dozen to a food pantry in Hastings, and 6 more last week. The warm fuzzy/good feeling of donating is nice, but doesn't buy feed. My roadside sign "BROWN EGGS 1.50/DOZ is not bringing in the customers. It was a 'chicken math' thing last March at the feed store.
Gladahmae, I have used the wildlife netting on the upper part of my garden fence for years as a deer guard, but only vertically. stretched snug, it will shed snow.
Ron Estrada, may I add a voice to the chorus of NO fall chicks in the basement? I did it for a week last March, the smell----worse than wet feathers. Is there an update on the Planning commission? A problem might arise later if they say no chickens, and then find you got some anyway.
Last year my 6 GLW wouldn't touch sunflower seeds or heads. This year I learned to feed sunflowers before the seed hulls get hard, as today they ate the hulls and all. Tomorrow I will hang some in the coop!
