Anyone have any tips for using a real pumpkin to make pie? How do you prep the pumpkin before mixing it as pie?
make sure you get a pie pumpkin....we tried it once when I was a kid and it was very watery had to be cooked down a long time. Baking may be the best way to go, I may try it this year.

He wants to know if he qualifies? lol

X2 on getting pie pumpkins instead of ornamentals. I roast mine (as well as winter squash by the ovenload) just as Opa described, helps reduce the moisture and improve the flavor, and if freezes great.

Since reducing flock size and adding another perch, I have been going out every night and evicting the pullets that are still trying to sleep in the nest boxes. Last night was the first night that everyone was on a perch - Yay!

Opened the coops to a dead pullet. i didn't even know anything was wrong with this one. I have a SLW that has been under the weather, and even the vet visit gave no answer. Anyway, this was one of the GLWxMr.Fuffers chicks. She would have been about 11 weeks now. To look at her though, I guess she really hasn't grown. I never even though about it being odd that she was still so little. She ate good, feathered out wonderfully. She was my Little Pretty. Always loved a cuddle and would stay in my arm and not want to get off. Roger was the only one who ever picked on her... Oh well. Totally blows. Her sister is 2 weeks older, and 3 times her size...
