Wow. Guess I've been gone for a while.

Can anyone catch me up?

Yeah - You missed CS14. I got the pickled cherry tomatoes from you at 13, or was it 12? Anyway, LOTS of people have moved on. Some still lurk NOVA! Really nothing new other than you came back - so visit more often and share tales of the north. Cheers, John

Farmerboy is getting married? Way cool!

I've really cut back on message boards, just too much to do and not enough time. I'm barely on facebook anymore either. Nothing much happening up here. Was under a tornado warning for about 30 minutes, AFAIK nothing happened.

Next week DH and I are of to the UP to see some sights. I've only ever been there for a day trip which I barely remember so DH is taking me on a 3-4 day jaunt. I'm not from MI orignially so it's all new to me. I'll get to stick my toe in Lake Superior finally.

I hope you enjoy your trip to the UP! Lake Superior is cold, even during the warmest parts of summer. In fact, if you feel like it, at Presque Isle Park in Marquette, MI there is a great place to jump off a short cliff and into Superior. It is quite fun, though the water will take your breath away!

Do any of you know anyone in Michigan who raises large size Black or Blue Langshan's?? We will be in Marshall, MI next weekend and if I could find some I would love to pick them up - even hatching eggs if available.

Hello all! I live in White Lake, MI. I'm looking for someone to build me an enclosure in my garage for night time and winter safety and an out door enclosure as well. Please, I need this asap!

Email me at [email protected] Maybe a 4x8 or 6' enclosure with heat for night time in the garage. I want something on the floor easy to clean so it doesn't soak into the garage cement. I have an 10x10' pen for out door with a small pool, but thinking that won't do much when it snows! Please help asap!

What exactly are you keeping? If it's geese, ducks, or chickens, you don't need heat. If you are only worried about light for layers you can use a broad spectrum 60 watt bulb on a timer to simulate daylight. On early in the AM and off later in the PM. Some folks feel birds should rest through the winter and not have extended lighting. Also, if your outdoor enclosure is draft free, but well ventilated, then the birds should be able to winter over outside. All of mine do. If you really want to have something built there are a bunch of good licensed contractors in the local area that could do what ever you want.
For the floor, if you go that route, linoleum, stall mat rubber, or FRP 4x8 (a type of waterproof wallboard) , may help keep the mess contained.
More details please and you'll get good advise on here I'm sure.

LOL. I am bringing my swimsuit but only for the random hotel hot tub! I never jump into water, I sort of wade in. Probably a condition of not knowing how to swim! Yes there are still a few of us out there, I blame the Girl's Club of America and my brother who liked to grab my ankles and pull me under when I was little making me scared of the water.
