Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@wannahomestead
I have the same spots. I'm not sure if the flea beetles are causing it or not (I have literally seen the little buggers on the plants). Doing another app of Neem oil today as apparently is rids plants lot of different things (from insects to fungi). I don't /won't use any "real" chemicals ..really trying to use natural products and companion planting.
I know there are a lot of WAY experienced gardeners out there....thoughts?

Wish your place was a tad closer...I'd probably fall asleep during a 40 mile drive home...though your new client rates make it VERY tempting ;)

Good morning, newbie here. I am in Kalkaska county and looking for some laying hens/chicks. I have not had much luck on C/L so was hoping someone could lead me in the right direction.

The coop/run is almost ready for them and I am not picky about the age/breed, just want to get me some girls for some eggs. I do realize that if they are chicks, they won't lay till around 5 or so months.

Thanks in advance and glad I found this site!

Craig's list - Northern Michigan - farm and garden I saw young chickens in Kalkaska and year old's in Bellaire. I don't have links though. I have some chicks myself but I'm not sure how many you want and if you want to visit Mackinaw.

Off to decorate a cake for my nephew and then attend three graduation open houses. What I really want to be doing is planting my garden. My son has done a good job this year working it up to plant.

Have you thought of trying a dusting of DE? Be very careful if you choose to apply it, you do not want to breathe it.

So this year was going to be my first year showing chickens but know we can't bring chickens to the fair because of the bird flu. On a happier note three out of my four cochins that I hatched are frizzles.

Grab one of the earlier slots, and then take a nap in our waiting room after your session. we do have clients who do that or chill out next door at Moonwinks, a local coffee shop or even chill out on the Dixboro Green, which is right next to us.

the Mrs' brought me duck eggs from the farmers market today! I ate one for breakfast and it was really good :)

I noticed a little spot in the yoke... I wonder if I could try hatching one :p

The white spots on the leaves could be powdery mildew. Do a web search to confirm and treat

Wannahomestead, if the eggs are fertile the spot on the yolk should look like a bullseye. I wouldn't try to hatch
just one. They thrive better with company.

Just came home from installing the chicken coop I built this past week. They are real happy with it. It definitely isn't flimsy like the ones from TSC.

It was a little white bullseye looking spot in the yoke. It really looked like the pics i've seen of fertile egg yoke. That's of course not to say all the eggs are fertile though. I think I'll just enjoy these for breakfast; if I get anymore animals I'll be living in the coop with them if you know what I mean :p
