Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Another 4 wagons in the barn today. About one or 2 more would be enough to call it for the year.

And I also got started in on stretching hardwear cloth onto my hoop coop today. I gotta get the Rangers into that this week as they're quickly outgrowing the Bunk. really hoping to have them moved into that by Thursday.

My township refernces the county for building code, which then references 2009 michigan residential building code. That code says the following regarding permitting:

" 105.2. Work exempt from permit. Exemptions from permit requirements of the code shall not
be deemed to grant authorization for any work to be done in any manner in violation of the
provisions of the code or any other laws or ordinances of this jurisdiction. Permits shall not be
required for any of the following:

(i)One-story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and
similar uses, provided the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet (11.15m2)."

So going the size i want, it sounds like I will need to explore building permit stuff :-/
Be sure to check zoning ordinances as well.

After looking at some measurments and plotting out size, I think I can make something below/@ the 120 sq ft "limit" work. My living room is about 320 and that's actually going to be probably TOO big.

Quote: Talk to the actual building inspector for your area. What's crazy is our township allows 300 sqft w/o a permit but my buddy built his new horse barn down the road at about 2000 sqft with no permit - with the township's permission. He bypassed the building inspector and went directly to the town manager arguing it was for horses and was replacing the previous structure that caved in over winter. When I built my two story 48 by 32 barn I had to get a permit. Instead of reading online I'd draft up a basic floor plan, decided if to want to run electric, water, etc. and visit the building inspector. He, or She, gets paid to be at your service and should set you in the right direction. By the way, always build bigger that you think you need because you'll need bigger, lol!

A few days till Chickenstock. Seems like the smallest showing yet (even without the bird flu issue like last year). I asked a few old members but no luck there. I know a few that come every year that don't post, hope they do. I still have to get ready. So, guess Cindy and I will see ya'll that are coming...
