Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

We're back from our Halloween camping trip. We had a blast decorating the site. And... we won first place!! The grandkids had a blast with all the activities. Sorry the season is changing and no more camping.
RaZ, hope the hand is better by now.
Looked out the window and saw a hawk sitting on the cat's cage, with a bunch of chickens in the other cage (door open) "hiding". Taped on the window to scare the hawk away and put the chickens in the run. Close call!
Congratulations! :thumbsup What did you win?
There is still some good camping for a few more weeks. Don't stop now.

My hand is still messed up. Slowing down my plans and work on the garage and coop. Thanks for asking.

Glad your chickens are alright. Still, that had to be an awesome sight to see.

we'll be camping one more time to close up the seasonal when we get back from vacation. We'll miss holloween camping weekend this year. One of these years we want to go all out on decorating for camp too. Did you take any picts chickflick?

Raz, been meaning to ask if you think maybe a weasel got into the chickens?

Isn't this life in a nutshell, put up with a bunch of crap - manage to get that out of your life, and then your body goes to heck... It seems like we can't catch a break sometimes!

After vacation, I have to get seriously bush getting livestock ready for winter. Hopefully my mom will no be able to move till late next year. (OHhh, maybe I'll get in another deer season too!!) We wanted to build a small garage to put my dads shop tools and lumber in, now we may be able to do this!

Yesterday I 'cleaned' the garage, with help from a friend who did most the schlepping.
I have mini pallets all around the edge of garage because of the occasional flooding and I haven't moved them for 4-5 years, maybe longer, I CRS. After 3 floodings in a week this summer I expected to find more of a mess that I did...rotten pallet bottoms, soaked mouse mess, mold, none of that was there, everything was pretty dry. Found a few mouse nests, but they were old. Also expected my old golf club bag to be filled with mice and spiders, rusty shafts, rotten grips and clothing...nope dry as a whistle and in good shape. Too bad I can't use them, too 'crippled'. Anyway....

So everything got moved off the pallets, swept and vacuumed the floor, and most put back in a more organized fashion...didn't take near the time I thought it would, so my buddy also had time to drag crap out from under the coop shed. I was afraid I'd find rat sign, have had a few around this summer, but just saw one mouse, with 8 babies attached, scurrying off. Tossed a bunch of ancient snow fence onto the burn pile, thought those would be full of rodent nests too, and rearranged all the lumber stored under there.

....and I found some aged wood chips for the chicken run, going to pick up those on Friday. It was a good day, more 'done' than in a long time.

Still a lot more to be done before snow flies.

Come camp up here in Caseville or Port Austin,we can visit.
I'm thinking weasel or mink. The locals claim that there are no mink or weasel in the area. They also claim that there is a pack of coyotes around. I've seen no sign of them. Haven't heard anything that sounded like coyote yips. They could be around, I'd not be surprised. I'm sided up to hundreds of acres of State land. The predators that I have seem are a vixen and even a bald eagle that took a hen not 20 feet from where I was standing. I was sorry to lose the hen...but witnessing an eagle strike was an amazing thing to see.

I agree with you on the nutshell comment. I've had enough crap and body failures. I'll just focus on the positive...Like when you were there for me through my surgery last year. You are such a wonderful friend to have done that.

Since people seldom see mink, they do not realize they are around. Seems like most folks are completely unaware of the huge variety of life we are surrounded by.

On an up note I scored Bob Seger tickets in November down in Grand Rapids! Woohoo! :wee
Cool!!

Slept through my alarm this morning and had to scramble out the door in record time to get to the office late. Got there in time to start my 11:15 session at 11:30. Thankfully, my 12:30 canceled before I called so I was able to give that first client her full hour. And then got to hear about how her hubby and friends took her to the Ozzy Osbourne concert last week at what was Pine Knob. Kinda hard to remain professional when one is talking about the Prince of Freaking Darkness. ;)

Sure hope I get the seasonal allergies over with soon, they have been kicking my butt.

You are welcome my friend!

I think it's DTE energy center - but still Pine Knob to me too. I saw Ozzy when he toured with black sabbath... several years ago. Good Show, we were right up front!

Almost time for vacation.......... can't wait!!!
