Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Randy, I know I’m still new here, but I’m sorry for everything g you have endured. You’re a tough cookie with a very big heart that needed a little fixing. Sometimes your best simply can’t fix an animal that has his own motives...you did your absolute best, which is little consolation given the outcome. Hang in there which i know you will. Are you in the UP?

I have been taking care of myself. That's what makes this all so confusing. Thinking about it, this is the 2nd trip to the ER with a stay over. Both times I was at work when it occurred. The receiving area is not air conditioned and it gets darn hot back there. Air circulation is minimal. It's non-existent in 4 of the bays. Management has refused to provide fans. Based on my medical release report it appears that the root cause for my episodes is environmental. I'm going to file a grievance and see if I can force some improvements back there. My immediate management has tried to help but any improvements have been blocked by Corporate. Or so I've been told.

Side note: I was off for 4 weeks for the heart surgery. I provided doctors note before requesting the time off and another doctor note upon return to work. Corporate then stepped in. First by denying short-term disability pay, which I NEVER requested, then then they changed my approved time-off to "unexcused" absences. That resulted in demerits to the point that I went from a top rating of 4 to low 2 which is a disciplinary level. Unbelievable!
This is so exasperating, You may have to write many letters to get things straightened out. I had this happen when I was working. I went to co. Dr. on their time but made up the time at the end of the day so still worked 8. All I wanted was for them to cover their Dr. bill. after 4 letters explaining I was not asking for work mans comp Just for them to pay the Dr. and them sending me letter after letter telling me I did not qualify for work mans comp I gave up and sent the bill to my ins. But maybe if you get a letter from your immediate boss with copies of your Dr. excuses they will fix their mess...........There is always hope.
Good luck

Sometimes it's necessary to be that 'squeaky wheel', and get things in writing, and go back to management again. I hope you can get things covered as they should be.

Funny things have been taking place. Before I even went on the medical leave, I requested and submitted the "permission" forms. My supervisor took me off the work schedule for a couple of months. When I returned, I had a medical release to "return" to work and I was put back on the schedule. All paperwork went to the corporate office.
I then get a letter from corporate stating that I was denied short-term disability pay. Something that was never requested. Corporate then changed my status to say that I had 4 weeks of "no show/no call" absences. All unexcused which put me in the category of one more de-merit and I would be fired. They then canceled my schedule set by local management and dinged me for working on days that I wasn't supposed to be there.
Then I had the episode of this week. I left work early on Monday and was a "no-show" for the next 4 days. My HR rep got the doctor's report on Thursday when I was discharged from hospital.
Today was my scheduled day to work and when I got there I was called in to the store director's office to address "attendance issues". According to corporate, I should be immediately fired. Fortunately, the store director knows me well and what has taken place. So he used his position to keep me on at his discretion. We will still have to fight corporate in the upcoming weeks to get it all straightened out and remove these phony demerits. In the mean time, I am reporting to work each day and doing my job. It's incredible at how badly a bureaucrat can create drama out of thin air.

All I want to do is go to work, do the best job that I can, and earn a paycheck. I sure don't need this nonsense. How crazy has this become? :idunno

Did I mention that my weekend city neighbor brought 4 chicks up and dropped them off here? 2 are BO's & 2 are black bodies with white heads. They came from his downstate neighbor and were a surprise 'gift" for me. I never asked for them and I really don't need any more chickens.

That is always a worry to me. Living at the end of a dead-end road, I'm always concerned that people will be dumping pets here. That is pretty much what happened with these 4 chicks. It's no wonder that I despise people.

Did you just tell them "No"?
