Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

There's a list of what's used to define inflation, probably google it. Set up decades ago, and items haven't been changed to reflect more recent buying patterns or needs.
Yeah, some things need to be updated, I'm sure.

Like most people, though, if I come home with less groceries than I used to for the same $$, to me, that's inflation.

I just went here: https://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm

$100 in July 2020 now takes $105.37.

Hi Everyone!
Had plentyto read this time, lol We all buy core items. This in the world of economics mean nothing but every day need items that are subjectto change during inflation. Such items are nothing but food, gas and needless to say all sort of energy like electricity, propane gas and so on. It is very hard. A lot of people tried to anticipate all this at the beginning of teh pandemic but many threw the towel thinking it will not last this long. I knew it would last 2 years but I honestly think now that it might take 3. Between shots, regulationds, people not wanting to get vaccinated or people getting vaccinated and still getting the virus... It is all a learning curve for everyone and there are no set rules of how it will all play out. We just need to be wise on everything from shopping, to decision making, and being able to preserve some values that are important to us as individuals. Not everyone has the same set of values. It it was not this way, maybe life will be boring? IDK

But chickens is our thing and a common commodity that we share. I wish I could have more (25-30) but then there are the laws and rules that some idiosyncratic person made. I am glad to see that heat has been more gentle. It was supposedly 80 this way but it sure felt like 90 anyways. No wind to cool at all.

I spent most of the day in Muskegon. Had to check on hub auto insurance and had to speak with Jake, yeah, Jake from State farm. But he did not looked like the one on the commercial, :lau Then to AT&T which was like forever. I had a phone that wanted to be unlocked and changed to prepaid but even though it said it was a 4G, it came out as 3G and had to buy him a new phone. So he has a newer cell phone. I saw that nice Galaxy fold and i loved it until I saw the 1899.00 price tag. It looks very ugly now, :lau Technology is another part of economics that is going pretty high. People barely have a home phone anymore and rely on a cell phone. That helps hike the prices up too.Samsung is the top cellphone maker that is very reliable now a days. If I would have known this, I would have bought shares on them back when I was in Korea. But I did not, so I need to be a nice buttercup,:hit
Phoebe will soon be out of the quarantine for edible eggs. She has laid some huge eggs all of these days. 3 yolkers to be exact. But I am giving her a few more days and by the 1st I can start eating her eggs again.
Well,it is 8pm and I need to go outside and see that everything is ok and see if I can get them inside a bit early. Catch up later.

Love ya!

No eggs today, but after the traumatic day yesterday, I'm not surprised.

Lark is much calmer today. The littles didn't get too near her crate, but when they were close, she ignored them. I take that as a really good sign. But she knows she can't reach them through the crate.

I plan to leave her in the crate tomorrow, and do the same thing I did today with snacktime, ie, put globs of mash around her crate (and in her crate) and see how the interaction goes.

Maybe she can come out Wednesday...? :fl :fl

I heard a couple of loud SQUAWKS today, but it was just the squawk, not screeching, so I assume that one of the big birds thought one of the littles was out of line and let them know. I didn't even go look to see what had happened. Let them figure it out...

@aart, another integration question...

My thought is to let Lark out just before dark, so she can get in the coop. Does that make sense?

I just went out now, and when she realized I was locking up the coop, started a ruckus. (And Darl is ruckusing back, so it's loud out there now.) If I let her out at dusk, I'll stick around until dark to see if everything is ok in the coop.

And :fl :fl
