Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Love lupines... too bad they're not a perennial... bi annual I believe, but I never had any volunteer after that. I have a few plants that volunteer lots of new ones every year via seeds. (some a little too eager!).

Most treated lumber now a days is not really rated for underground - hence the use of sono tubes/cement for decks... We're lucky (sorta) that we have gravel or sand all over
so we don't use anything else to put around our set posts. A previous fence we put in our old house (next door to us) was over 15 yrs ago, it's still nice and straight!.
Right. They do re-seed hence more plants every year. I've seen hillsides in Maine that cover acres and are there every year.

The treated posts in MI are mostly red pine and I think they do a poor job of treating them. That said, I've cemented them in and they last a long time. I crown the base above grade to create runoff. Seems to help. If I could get cypress in quantity I'd be a happy boy for sure.

I love plants that propogate themselves. Start with a few and boom - everywhere. Trust me there's a ton more!
love lupines, they do not seem to like my soil, or something eats the seed, I will have them 1 yr and never see them again. I do have LOTS of daisy, lambs ear, and various black eyed susans, that come up every were, and poppies and phlox, ect.

CONGRATS, farmerboy, beautiful baby, very small, glad all is well

good advice on the posts.
we do have Osage orange in Mi. and you can make a living fence with it but it would take yrs. Think I saw that on Mother Earth a year or so ago

nice run, why do you take it down in winter? seems like a lot of work??

We knew this day would eventually come. Didn't think it would be this soon. Have to get rid of all of my birds in two and a half weeks. Zoning people for our area stopped by and said we will have two weeks from when we get our notice in the mail. Right now, we are looking at different options before we start getting rid of any.

I am so sorry! that's just awful. We've only had our gang for a month and I don't know what I'd do without them. :(

I suggest fighting all the way. You have a commercial operation and comply with GAAMPs so the MRTFA covers your operation. You do comply with GAAMPs, right? Also seek MAEAP verification as added support.

I would LOVE to fight all the way, but we are looking at purchasing some property, so we need the money for that. We definitely do comply with GAAMPS.
