I have the same problem. I think its how I try to make the turn.Lady, that is beautiful art!
Gladahmae,
I wish I could do that with making a hat. I have taken books out from library to try to learn, but after one row, its all down hill for me :-( the hat looks awesome!
If you put your new coop (under in the drawing), then you could back its run into one of the existing runs and get "free" fencing.Alrighty. I need some coop advice. We bought BIL's coop (well....will be buying it when DH gets paid again) and I need to decide where to put it. There are a couple of factors at play here. On the one hand, we've kept the fencing in line with the line of the house going North/South to keep a 'clean' look instead of just having runs and coops sprawling all over the place. On the other hand, I very much dislike that I cannot see the run on the south side of the big coop from the house. We're right in the middle of 10 acres, so I can really put it anywhere I want, but for practical purposes, I'd like it to be somewhat near the other coops as that is where we store feed, egg cartons, and have power for things such as heaters for water in the winter.
This is kind of the layout we have right now. behind (above in the picture) the house/garden/runs is the fenced in back yard for the dogs. It goes from the left back corner of the house all the way to the 2nd coop, so placing that direction isn't an option.

I ended up with 3 chicks from the dozen ebay sultan & polish eggs. And now my guinea eggs are hatching. I have 5 so far and the last are due to hatch the 6th. The chicks must have hurried them up. I wish I had planned out my layout before I had 4 coups and runs all over the place. Its not so bad in the summer, but in the winter its a pain trying to keep 100' of hose unfrozen. So far the heated hose I got last year works great, until it gets really cold.
I recently heard an amusing story that I thought I'd pass on.
A man who each year tried to find unusual birthday gifts for his mother had run out of ideas when he heard of a pair of chickens that would talk, sing, and dance. When he went to see them he found that they were quite the conversationalists and did in fact have quite a repertoire of songs. After much negotiating he purchased the birds and arranged to have them delivered to his mother.
After a few days had passed he called her and asked how she like the chickens. She replied that they were delicious. "Mom, those birds cost $5000. How could you kill and eat them. They could sing and dance. They could talk."
"Well they should have said something"
