Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I had butchered one of my turkeys, and I will be taking it to my girlfriend's family dinner. Hope they like the taste of a heritage turkey.

I have a long unchicken related Thanksgiving post so be patient...

I am one of those people who tends to see the worst in the situation, call it an active imagination. I get upset with all the bumps in life and frustrated because nothing ever goes smoothly. My DH on the other hand, who grew up in no so great family conditions, always tells "that's life get over it and move on" and then does. So I work to see the things to be thankful each day. I find you Opa inspiring as you always have something to be thankful for every day no matter what crazy thing you are going through. It is a help and motivation for me as I usually only have time to read first thing in the morning. It helps me as I start my day. So this week I was looking for a short video clip to help me with my group of teens as we were talking about being thankful. I found this clip
It made me think of you Opa, not because of the ungrateful man but because you are very much the opposite. Thanks for being an inspiration. Anyway over the past couple weeks I have been trying to be more thankful and notice the things during my day that I usually miss. Happy Thanksgiving everyone whether your with all the family or having a quiet day, enjoy! .... Oh and I would add being thankful for my chickens to the list!!

Happy Thanksgiving To All!!!!

Happy thanksgiving!

Be safe out there. Not keen on the stores doing the shopping thing today. I usually try to stay off the road in the madness.

I wanted to ask- is the aqua scaping real? It is stunning and almost makes me want fish.

Taprock that was wonderful. Thank you for sharing. It makes you realize the things we take for granted are ones that so many these days don't have. I hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving full of love and cheer.

Nothing in my life is how I had envisioned it but that's okay as I do have life. A long time ago I decided that I would never worry about the things I cannot control and those that I can are nothing to worry about. I found that if I tried to be the nicest person people meet that most would respond in kind. The harder I work to present a positive image the easier it became to be positive. I am humbled that others find inspiration in my musing and that makes my day even brighter.

One side effect of the medication I am having to take is severe itching. I was awaken several times with an incredible urge to scratch. One prevention method that I tried was eating and since I am certain that chocolate cake has curative properties I opted for that. Hope thinks that desserts are additive but I disagree since I know I could stop eating them anytime I want. So as I was sitting here doing a line of cake I started thinking about all I have to be thankful for.

As the video Taprock posted showed, it's the things we take for granted that should start our list. Once we realize just how wonderful those things are, then the others things you add to your list will make you feel truly blessed. I too am grateful for my chickens, not only for what they provide me, but that they were the reason I was led to this thread. I am truly thankful for each and every one of you. HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
