Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

cats can get diabetes and renal failure when they get older. :(

Just popping in to say hello!

My baking for the week is/ was an eggnog cake for my work's holiday party; it better have turned out!!! LOL. Made real whipped topping from real cream, (instead of frosting) show them what the difference is! Cheated and bought southern comfort eggnog, Mmmmmm. :D Trying to decide now whether to make it a poke cake and pour some nog on it too, or leave it alone to show off the texture.......

rocky is handsome

Prayers for daisy and sillys dog.. so hard having aging pets.

I have a old cat, he is getting skinnier and skinnier, pukes, pees alot.. so i am guessing kidney failure and other old age complications. he is still eating and drinking and getting around good.. but saddens me to think that we may not have him around someday in the near future.. i would be surprised if he make it a yr.. he is almost 18 so i know he is pushing a good old age.. we have had his since he was around 2yrs old.. our first family cat. I told my hubby, that when he starts withdrawing from the family that is when we take action.. because that is what they do when they are in that much discomfort.. right now he seems good.. still acting normal well as normal as he could be.. he is a goofy quirky cat..

Sounds like my old cat who is the same age. Just this morning he walked into the dining room where I am installing some reclaimed hardwood flooring (because he ruined the carpet in there by peeing on it), entered a cupboard there and started heaving. He ended up hoerking in the cupboard thankfully and we all breathed a sigh of relief because the floor is unfinished and highly absorbent. But we forgot about round number 2 and 3. So of course he just waltzes out and hoerks again, right on the maple flooring. He had naturally just gorged himself on soft cat food and drank all the water his stomach could hold.

All of the stories of ailing pets make me sad :(

All of my current babies are my firsts. Literally. The pup, the 3 cats & the 14 chickens. I get the whole cycle of life thing. BUT when it comes to pets (my babies, as I don't have kids), I have not yet had to experience the end of said cycle. Pretty sure I'm gonna freak when the time comes...

Keefe is almost 11 (pure Opa's link, 85 yo). I know Rotties' typical lifespan is 10-12 years. In the last few months, pup is starting to,show signs of neurosis & dementia (for lack of any better description). Certainly getting VERY gray, too ;)
But, in many other aspects he is still very much "normal".
He is the best dog...

Love all the recent pix of dogs & kitties & chickens & their relationships w/each other...THOSE make me smile :love

& cat's cute too.
@RaZ so sweet.
Looks nice. It does look familiar but mine is from a 1920's schoolhouse in rural Pennsylvania that was demolished. Can't remember the name of the company that sold it to me. Great deal though, same price as a new hardwood floor from a big box store and the planks were 3/4" thick as opposed to the standard 3/8" or whatever flimsy crap they sell that's all laminate and they planed them for me too. We needed the thicker wood because our old house had springy sub flooring. Now I can walk across the room without feeling like I'm going to fall through. It wasn't practical to replace the sub flooring either because they had it shimmed to counteract the sagging of the house, one side of the room is over an inch thicker than the other and it STILL angles downward. My kids were using the new floor as a bowling alley because the ball would return to them. Old houses.... fun.

Kids get a day off school today so their winter break starts early. Looks icy out there. Cars are inching by on the road.
