I love visiting Traverse city, but I always seem to pass by when the cherry festival is going on and traffic is bad
 
Welcome to the new folks! We all live here because we just LOVE snow, cold, and cloudy days, right? January is OVER, and it's lighter longer. This is good. My chicken run is still not roofed, so the birds are spending lots of time in the coop looking out. Spring will come, just not yet. I'm dreaming over the MMcM catalog, always fun. Mary

I've probably plowed that much off of my driveway between 5 and 6. Just walked it maybe 20 minutes ago, there's probably about another 4 already there. Going to take forever to clear the driveway tomorrow. Good thing I don't have to be at work until 1:30, and with nothing on the books for me until 4, I'm kinda thinking of asking to not come in until 3. That would give me just that much more time tomorrow to clean things up. Might just leave pulling snow away from the barn up to Mom.

Just came in from removing the first 8" from the top driveway. The lower and longer drive can wait till the storm is over. I did plow a path to the chicken coop so I could check on the birds and gather the eggs. Sure am glad that the run is enclosed for the winter. Sure gives the birds more space than just the coop would.

Yeah, I'm kinda wishing I had longer shower curtains right now on my tractor. Bunch of snow inside of the run there. With the northeast wind we've been getting here most of the day, its getting into the run. Girls were pretty much hanging out in the coop area or up on the pallet table I put in there by the end of the night. At least I still have a half bale of straw left and I can toss some in tomorrow. And its just a quick drive up the road with the truck to get some more. Kinda thinking of getting some more bales just to block a little more wind. Maybe open the bales and place the flakes in between the space of my top bales and the run.

Yeah, I opened up the door for my girls this morning asking if any of them wanted to come out. They just looked at me with a collective NOPE face at me.
 
Got to love your kids, right? Last night Hope checked with her son about the snow storm, condition of the roads, and whether or not he and his wife would be working on Monday. Since they indicated that they were, and since I didn't want Hope driving her two wheel drive Ford Focus through the deep snow I said I would take her.

Set my alarm for 5am but like most times I set an alarm, I woke 30 minutes early. Hope and I both went out and cleared the driveway and then called her son to tell him that we were enroute. Much to my surprise they were still in bed. We hadn't driven more than 5 miles when he called back to say that he was going to work from home and his wife was taking a personal day.

They could have decided that last night and I could have slept for several more hours. But you've got to love your kids. I think it's a law.

I have RIR, BO,Isa browns, a BR, a black rooster(don't know what breed),a mixed rooster, a mixed bantam, 3 silkies, ring neck pheasants, and soon to be bobwhite quail.
 
thanks to all for the advice on ACV and no I don't believe it cures or kills off any parasites or illness, but it is supposed to boost the immune system but it should be unpasteurized I will have to find a gallon glass container, don't think I have one of those,

good luck to all those with surgeries this week and hope those that are recovering
