That's what my netting looks like. We got 3 inches last night of sticking snow, but it all fell thru, yay!String-type netting such as this, although I have also seen chicken wire called poultry netting

Sounds like a great plan Opa, would love to have covered runs. 17" of snow in one day, yikes so glad we didn't get it here lolIn Howell we got hammered by the snow. I measured 17" at 10pm last night. Had the ground been cold before it started snowing we'd have even more accumulation. When it first started snowing quite a bit melted before it started to build up.
A friend gave me enough poultry netting to cover my 16' x 16' run several years ago but warned me about the sag potential as the previous winter he lost over 100 pheasants that were trapped under the snow laden mesh.
I solved that problem by installing a center pole that is 6' higher than the fence. I then installed 16 rafters running up to the top of the center pole. The first year I'd knocked the snow off and would then shovel out the run. In the years since I tarp the top and sides so the birds have somewhere to go and I don't have to shovel.
