Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

We have a water softener and an iron filter. The iron filter was $1600, the softener was $1300. The softener had died, and when Canfield in Lowell tested our water for iron, it was off their scale, so they sent it to Bayes in Sparta. Bayes recommended the Iron Guardian.

As it happens, a neighbor has one and said it was worth every penny. And he was right. Night and day difference.

We also have a reverse osmosis filter on the kitchen sink for drinking water, and it has made me a water snob. I think it tastes better than any other water. The membrane filter was supposed to last 6 months. I think we're going on 8 years...? I have another one to replace it when the time comes. I asked how to know when it needs it, and was told when there's a drop in the pressure, or it tests high for "total dissolved solids." I had it tested about 5 years ago, and the guy said it was still doing fine.

Expensive? Yeah. Worth it? Oh hell yeah.

One other plus... I discovered Canfield Plumbing and Heating. I don't have to worry about who to call for plumbing again.

Dream, I don't know of your other health issues, but after her husband died my friend gained a lot of weight, she was up over 200lb.s she went on a diet where she cut out all sugar and most carbs. lots of meat and veggies, fat is good sugar is bad. She ate bacon, sausage, steak, fish, ect. She has lost at least 70lbs. never hungry, I know she likes wine and chocolate and those were 2 exceptions. in moderation If you can shift it might work for you, her blood sugar and pressure all dropped. I know most Dr. are not on board with this diet but some are OK with it and are amazed at the outcome.

I'm disappointed with the snowfall so far. Not even 2 inches. It is nice out there. 25 degrees and no wind at all. No wind is rare in this area.

I'm being extra lazy today. All I've done is let the chickens out and gathered 1 egg. That's all I've been getting lately. I think maybe they have a hidden nest somewhere. I see lots of tracks going in to the portable garage.

I've been watching episodes of Gas Monkey Garage and Counting Cars. I'm getting anxious for spring so I can get the old car and motorcycle out. I need some cruising time.

Not even 2 inches.
It's all a bit south of you, maybe the next round will get ya?
